University of Granada admission at a glance
The University of Granada (UGR) admits school-leavers with a foreign diploma by two routes, and its current admission pages describe curso 2026-2027, the latest published cycle: students from an EU or agreement school system, the IB or the European Baccalaureate apply with a Credencial UNEDasiss, while students from other systems first need homologación of their diploma to the Spanish Bachillerato. Both routes end in the same Distrito Único Andaluz application.
UGR's page for applicants from abroad sets out one procedure for those who come from a European Union education system or hold the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the European Baccalaureate. UGR's information sheet for these students says plainly that no homologación is needed: they only present the UNED credential. Among their documents UGR lists the Credencial de UNEDasiss.
For a diploma from outside the EU without an agreement, UGR states that the Spanish Ministry of Education must recognise your studies as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato. For curso 2026/2027, the separate Fase de Extranjeros was exclusive for those who finished their pre-university studies outside Spain after 1 January 2023, a date UGR says is valid for that admission process because the requirement changes every year, and UGR calls the number of places very small.
Which admission cycle UGR's pages describe
UGR's current admission documents name curso 2026-2027: the information sheet for EU and agreement students, the list of Grados offered and the preinscripción leaflet, whose calendar says its dates refer to 2026 and peninsular Spanish time. UGR has not yet published an admission calendar for curso 2027-2028, the cycle for autumn 2027 entry; the 2026 dates show the pattern, not your deadlines.
Language and fees at a glance
UGR Grados are taught in Spanish. Asked whether any Grado is taught entirely in English, UGR's FAQ for students from foreign systems answers that classes are given in Spanish, except language classes. Plan your Spanish before you plan your application.
UGR tuition is a public price per credit (precio público por crédito). UGR's general information page says these prices are the ones set in Decreto 98/2023 of 2 May and does not state the amount per credit, so the fees chapter explains how the charge is built rather than a total.
| Your diploma | What UGR asks for | Where you apply |
|---|---|---|
| EU school system, IB or European Baccalaureate | Credencial UNEDasiss, no homologación | Distrito Único Andaluz preinscripción |
| School system of a country with an agreement (convenio) | Credencial de UNEDasiss | Distrito Único Andaluz preinscripción |
| School system outside the EU without an agreement | Homologación to the Spanish Bachillerato by the Spanish Ministry of Education | Distrito Único Andaluz preinscripción |
EU and agreement diplomas: the UNEDasiss credential route
If your diploma comes from an EU school system, a country with an international agreement, the European Baccalaureate or the IB, UGR admits you with a Credencial UNEDasiss and without the PAU: your school mark is translated to the Spanish scale of 5 to 10 points, and you can raise it to 14 points with up to two admission-test subjects. These rules come from UGR's information sheet for curso 2026-2027, the latest published.
UGR's page for these students lists the systems included: EU member states, countries with international agreements (Convenio), the European Baccalaureate and the International Baccalaureate. To apply for a place you must show that you meet the academic requirements for university access in your home country. UGR's sheet adds that no homologación is needed, only the UNED credential, and that holders of these diplomas can enter university without sitting the PAU.
How UGR calculates your access mark
UGR translates your original grade into the Spanish system, on a scale of 5 to 10 points. The sheet for curso 2026-2027 gives the bounds as a pass minimum of 5 points and a maximum of 10 points. That translated mark is your calificación de acceso, and on its own it can never exceed 10.
Many UGR Grados need more than 10. UGR's sheet warns that numerous Grados have notas de corte above 10, so students who want them can raise their pre-university mark up to 14 points, the maximum admission mark. UGR's page says that you can raise your mark up to 14 points by taking admission tests: you pass exams in specific subjects of the Spanish 2º de Bachillerato linked to the Grado you want.
- UGR counts only two subjects, each passed with at least 5 points out of a maximum of 10, and both must be linked to the Grado you apply for.
- Each passed subject is multiplied by a parameter of 0,1 or 0,2 and added to your access mark, up to two subjects.
- You can sit these tests at any Spanish public university or through the UNED.
Which subjects count, and whether a subject is weighted 0,1 or 0,2, depends on the Grado. The chapter on the nota de admisión explains how UGR publishes those weights (ponderaciones).
Documents and application phases
UGR asks students on this route for the Credencial de UNEDasiss and the diploma or certificate that gives you university access in your country, each with its Spanish translation.
The Fase de Extranjeros is not open to this route. UGR states that EU and agreement students cannot take part in the fase de extranjeros, because that phase is for students from systems outside the EU and from countries without an agreement. UGR has not yet published the 2027-2028 windows; the 2026 dates show the June and July pattern for autumn 2027 entry.
Non-EU diplomas: homologación, provisional admission and the PAU
If your diploma comes from a system outside the EU without an agreement, UGR requires the Spanish Ministry of Education to recognise it as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato (homologación), but you can apply while that request is pending; then you choose between sitting the PAU, which lets your admission mark reach 14 points, and using your Bachillerato record alone, which caps it at 10 points unless you add PAU subjects in the fase extraordinaria.
UGR's page for these students states that it is essential that the Ministerio de Educación, Formación Profesional y Deportes recognises your studies as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato.
Where to request the homologación
UGR lists three places to file the request: online through the Ministry's Sede Electrónica, in person in Granada at the Subdelegación del Gobierno (C/ Gran Vía de Colón, 50), or abroad at a Spanish embassy or consulate in your country. The online channel works from anywhere, which matters if you apply from outside Spain.
Provisional admission with the resguardo
The homologación does not have to be finished when you apply. UGR says you can apply for a place with the receipt (resguardo) showing you have requested the homologación, and you have the whole first university year to present the final credential.
The risk is real. UGR states that if you do not obtain the homologación by the end of that year, you must leave the degree and your results are invalidated. Request the homologación as early as you can.
How UGR calculates your mark
With the homologación credential in hand, UGR uses the official average mark issued by the Ministry. While the homologación is still pending, UGR builds a provisional mark: it takes the grades of the last two years equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato, converts them to the Spanish 5-10 scale with its country tables, and uses their arithmetic mean as your access mark.
Two routes: with or without the PAU
You can sit the PAU at any Spanish public university, including UGR, or through the UNED (UNEDasiss), which runs exams both in Spain and at its centres around the world.
The route without the PAU is narrower. UGR states that your admission mark is then only your Bachillerato record. In the fase extraordinaria you reach vacant places, always after the students who do have the PAU, and there you can add up to 4 extra points by sitting only the specific PAU subjects.
| Phase | What counts | Maximum mark |
|---|---|---|
| Fase de Extranjeros | Bachillerato record only | 10 points |
| Fase Ordinaria | Bachillerato plus PAU | 14 points |
| Fase Extraordinaria | Bachillerato plus PAU, or homologated Bachillerato plus admission phase | 14 points |
IB, A-levels, Abitur, French Bac, Matura and other diplomas
UGR's information sheet for EU and agreement systems, written for the Curso 2026-2027 and the latest published, names the exact diploma each system needs: for example the IB Diploma, the European Baccalaureate, the Abitur, the Baccalauréat or the Italian Maturità, which you present through the UNED credential, while the UK route asks for GCSEs plus three A-levels with at least 48 points of UCAS Tariff 2017.
The UGR sheet is titled UNIÓN EUROPEA O CON ACUERDOS INTERNACIONALES (Curso 2026-2027). It lists, country by country, the document that gives access to a Spanish Grado. These are the rules of the latest published course; UGR has not yet published the sheet for the following course.
| System | Document UGR names |
|---|---|
| International Baccalaureate | Diploma de Bachillerato Internacional |
| European Schools | Título de Bachillerato Europeo |
| Germany | Allgemeine Hochschulreife (Abitur) |
| France | Título de Baccalauréat |
| Italy | Diploma de Examen de Estado o de Maturità |
| Switzerland | Diploma de Maturité |
| United Kingdom | five GCSE subjects at A, B or C and three GCE A-levels, graded A* to E with at least 48 UCAS Tariff 2017 points |
| Ireland | Established Leaving Certificate with at least six subjects and 240 points |
| Hong Kong | at least five HKDSE subjects |
| Colombia | Diploma de bachiller and Saber 11 results |
UK and Irish diplomas carry minimums
For UK applicants, UGR's sheet asks for at least five GCSE subjects graded A, B or C and three advanced-level (AL) subjects of the GCE. The A-levels must be graded A*, A, B, C, D or E, with a minimum of 48 points of UCAS Tariff 2017. A transcript that misses either part does not meet the rule on the sheet.
For Irish applicants, UGR's sheet asks for the Established Leaving Certificate with at least six subjects and at least 240 points. Hong Kong applicants need at least five HKDSE subjects.
What UGR's FAQ says for IB and French Bac holders
UGR's FAQ for foreign students tells IB holders to submit the Diploma de Bachillerato Internacional issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, and, optionally, to raise the mark, the Pruebas de Admisión. The admission tests are optional and only add points to your mark.
For the French Baccalauréat, UGR's FAQ states that you do not need to homologate the Bachillerato title and can enter through the Fase Ordinaria or the Fase Extraordinaria with the título de Baccalauréat, plus the Pruebas de Admisión optionally to raise the mark.
Morocco
The UGR FAQ treats the Moroccan bachillerato differently: a Moroccan student must first homologate the Bachillerato title, so the non-EU homologación route applies.
US diploma, SAT, ACT and AP
UGR publishes no rule that names the US high school diploma, the SAT, the ACT or AP exams. The UGR sheet for EU and agreement systems does not list the United States, and UGR's FAQ for foreign students has no entry for it.
How UGR ranks applicants: nota de admisión and ponderaciones
UGR ranks every applicant to a Grado by one number, the nota de admisión, which can reach 14 points: your access mark out of 10 plus your two best admission subjects multiplied by 0,1 or 0,2.
UGR states that places are assigned strictly in the order of the nota de admisión. UGR's admission pages describe no interview, essay or own entrance test for Grados.
The nota de acceso, out of 10
For students in the Spanish system, UGR defines the access mark as the sum of 60% of the Bachillerato average and 40% of the PAU fase de acceso mark, with a maximum of 10 points. To pass the fase de acceso, the average of the exams must be 4 points or more, and the final access mark (Bachillerato plus PAU) must be at least 5 points.
For students from EU or agreement systems, the UGR page says that your original mark is translated to the Spanish system on a scale of 5 to 10 points. That translated mark plays the role of the nota de acceso.
Ponderaciones: how admission subjects add points
In the PAU fase de admisión you can sit up to 3 subjects other than the one chosen in the fase de acceso, and UGR takes the two best marks among the passed subjects most closely linked (ponderación) to the Grado. Each of those subjects must be graded 5 or more to count.
UGR's page for EU and agreement students uses the same rule: up to two passed subjects are added, multiplied by the parameters 0,1 or 0,2. UGR's sheet for them gives 14 points as the maximum admission mark.
| Part | Rule | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Nota de acceso | 60% Bachillerato average plus 40% PAU fase de acceso; EU and agreement systems translated to 5 to 10 | 10 points |
| Admission subjects | up to two passed subjects multiplied by 0,1 or 0,2 | Depends on the Grado's parameters |
| Nota de admisión | Access mark plus weighted subjects | 14 points |
Tests: the PAU and the specific admission subjects
UGR sets no entrance test of its own for Grados; what counts is the PAU and its admission subjects: the fase de acceso has 4 exercises with indefinite validity, and the voluntary fase de admisión lets you sit up to 3 subjects to raise your mark; in the Convocatoria 2026, the latest published, the exams took place on 2, 3 and 4 June and 30 June, 1 and 2 July.
UGR does not set its own entrance test, interview or portfolio for Grados. UGR states that places are assigned strictly in the order of the nota de admisión. UGR publishes no rule that uses the SAT or the ACT.
The fase de acceso
UGR describes the fase de acceso as compulsory: passing it is an essential requirement to enter university, its validity is indefinite, and it has 4 exercises.
The PAU sheet for the Convocatoria 2026 lists the foreign languages: German, French, English, Italian or Portuguese. To pass, the average of the exercises must be 4 points or more, and the final access mark (Bachillerato plus PAU) must be at least 5 points.
The fase de admisión
The fase de admisión is voluntary. UGR says you can sit up to 3 subjects other than the one in the fase de acceso, and the two best passed marks most linked to the Grado count.
The PAU sheet opens the test to holders of the European Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate, and to holders of a Bachillerato from EU member states or from states with an international reciprocity agreement.
| Step | Ordinary session | Extraordinary session |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | 27 April to 22 May | 15 to 19 June |
| Inscription | 18 to 22 May, payment by 25 May | 15 to 19 June, payment by 22 June |
| Exams | 2, 3 and 4 June | 30 June, 1 and 2 July |
| Fee | 14,70 € per subject | 14,70 € per subject |
All dates in that table belong to the Convocatoria 2026 and have passed. UGR has not yet published the sheet for the next sitting, so use these dates as a guide to the usual calendar only.
Where you can sit the tests
Students from EU or agreement systems can sit the admission tests at any Spanish public university or through the UNED.
Students from non-EU systems can sit the PAU at any Spanish public university, including the Universidad de Granada, or through the UNED (UNEDasiss), which runs exams in Spain and at its centres around the world. UGR's FAQ says that UNED tests are accepted as long as they follow the structure agreed by the Distrito Único Universitario de Andalucía.
Deadlines and how to apply: the Distrito Único Andaluz preinscripción
Applications to UGR run through the calendar of the Distrito Único Andaluz; for curso 2026-2027, the latest published, the fase ordinaria ran from 11 to 22 June 2026 and the fase extraordinaria from 9 to 14 July 2026, both now closed.
The calendar leaflet of the Distrito Único Universitario de Andalucía states that its dates refer to 2026 and to peninsular Spanish time. UGR has not yet published the calendar for the following course; the steps below show its usual order.
| Step | Dates |
|---|---|
| Fase ordinaria: applications (all routes) | 11 to 22 June 2026 |
| Fase extraordinaria: applications | 9 to 14 July 2026 |
| Grados with vacant places: applications | 25 to 30 September 2026 |
Deadlines for EU, agreement and IB applicants
UGR's sheet for students from EU or agreement systems gave the same windows for the curso 2026-2027: the fase ordinaria from 11 to 22 June 2026 and the fase extraordinaria from 9 to 14 July 2026.
Several access routes at once
If you hold more than one route, UGR says you can take part through several access routes at once, and the system automatically selects the route that benefits you most for each Grado.
After each list: enrol, reserve or confirm
What you do after each adjudicación depends on where you were placed, and each step has a short deadline.
| Your result | What you must do |
|---|---|
| Admitted to a later preference (2nd, 3rd...) | Enrol, or make a reserva to keep competing for higher preferences |
| On the waiting list | Confirm that you want to take part in the next adjudicación |
If you think a list is wrong, UGR says the claims window is generally 3 working days after each adjudicación list is published. A waiting-list applicant who does not confirm leaves the system.
The fase de extranjeros for non-EU applicants without the PAU
The fase de extranjeros is an early UGR admission round without an exam but with a very limited offer, open only to foreign (non-EU) students without PAU/PCE who finished their pre-university studies outside Spain after 1 January 2023, a date UGR set for the curso 2026/2027; your mark there counts up to 10 points.
UGR describes the fase de extranjeros as exclusive for those who finished their pre-university studies outside Spain after 1 January 2023, a date valid for the admission process of the curso 2026/2027, since UGR changes this requirement every year, with a very small number of places. For entry in a later course, expect UGR to move that cut-off date; the date above belongs to that process only.
Who can use it
UGR's phase comparison gives the profile of each round: the fase de extranjeros is for only foreign (non-EU) students without PAU/PCE, while the fase ordinaria is for everyone with the PAU or PCE. You still need the homologación of your diploma, as for every non-EU route.
Students from EU or agreement systems are excluded. UGR's page for them states that such a student cannot take part in the fase de extranjeros, because this phase is for students from education systems outside the European Union and countries without an agreement.
The three phases compared
| Phase | Who | Maximum mark |
|---|---|---|
| Fase de Extranjeros | Only non-EU foreign students without PAU/PCE | 10 points |
| Fase Ordinaria | Everyone with PAU/PCE | 14 points |
| Fase Extraordinaria | Everyone with PAU or a homologated Bachillerato | 14 points |
UGR calls the fase de extranjeros an early opportunity without an exam, but with a very limited offer, and says it does not guarantee access to high-demand degrees. Your mark there stops at 10 points, while PAU candidates can reach 14 points in the fase ordinaria.
Places in the offer table
UGR's offer table, headed GRADOS QUE SE OFERTAN EN EL CURSO 2026-2027, prints two figures for each Grado. Medicina shows 272 and 0, Psicología shows 300 and 5, and Traducción e Interpretación (Árabe) shows 35 and 3. UGR does not publish a total of Grados or places for the fase de extranjeros on its admission pages.
The strategy UGR describes
UGR notes that many students apply in the fase de extranjeros and, at the same time, prepare the PAU for the fase ordinaria, to keep the most chances of success. If your target is a high-demand Grado, the PAU route is the one that can lift your mark above the Bachillerato record alone.
Places (plazas) and notas de corte
UGR's offer table for the curso 2026-2027, the latest published, prints two figures per Grado, for example 272 and 0 for Medicina and 300 and 5 for Psicología; the nota de corte is not a minimum but the mark of the last person who obtained a place in a Grado, and the published cut-offs are those of the previous course.
The UGR offer table is headed GRADOS QUE SE OFERTAN EN EL CURSO 2026-2027. Each row gives the Grado, the centre and two figures. UGR has not yet published the table for the following course. Read each pair as printed and check the current offer before you apply.
| Grado | Centre | Figures as printed |
|---|---|---|
| Medicina | Facultad de Medicina | 272 and 0 |
| Psicología | Facultad de Psicología | 300 and 5 |
| Odontología | Facultad de Odontología | 85 and 1 |
| Estudios de Arquitectura | E.T.S. de Arquitectura | 158 and 2 |
| Traducción e Interpretación (Inglés) | Facultad de Traducción e Interpretación | 105 and 2 |
| Traducción e Interpretación (Árabe) | Facultad de Traducción e Interpretación | 35 and 3 |
What a nota de corte is
UGR states that the nota de corte is not fixed and the university does not set it in advance; it is simply the mark of the last person who obtained a place in a Grado. A nota de corte is therefore a result of last year's competition, not an entry requirement. Your mark can be below last year's cut-off and still win a place if fewer strong applicants apply.
UGR adds that the final notas de corte are those of the previous course for the Fase Ordinaria; although they come from the July process, the final value is the last admitted after the waiting lists published in October. UGR's own admission pages do not print the cut-off values per Grado.
Reserve quotas (cupos)
Part of each Grado's places is reserved for specific groups. UGR's quota page gives the percentages below.
| Group | Share of places |
|---|---|
| University graduates | 1%, minimum one place per degree |
| Disability / NEE | 5% |
| Athletes (DAN/DAR) | 8% in Fisioterapia and CCAFD; 3% in the rest |
| Mayores de 25 años | 2%, minimum one place per degree |
| Mayores de 40 y 45 años | 2%, minimum one place shared equally |
Language: Spanish-taught Grados and English
UGR teaches its Grados in Spanish: asked whether any Grado is taught entirely in English, UGR answers that classes are taught in Spanish (except language classes), and the PAU sheet for the Convocatoria 2026 lets you choose German, French, English, Italian or Portuguese for the foreign-language exercise.
UGR's FAQ for students from foreign education systems puts the question directly, whether there are Grados taught completely in English, and gives one answer: classes are taught in Spanish, except language classes. If you want an English-taught bachelor's degree, UGR's Grados are not that option.
| Stage | Language |
|---|---|
| Grado classes | Spanish, except language classes |
| PAU foreign-language exercise | German, French, English, Italian or Portuguese |
Language of the exams
The PAU sheet for the Convocatoria 2026 lists the foreign languages of the third exercise: German, French, English, Italian or Portuguese.
Spanish or English certificates
UGR's admission pages for Grados do not set a DELE, SIELE or English certificate level as an entry condition. In practice, Spanish-language exams and Spanish-taught classes mean you need Spanish good enough to sit exams and follow lectures in Spanish.
Language support for enrolled students
UGR runs its own Ayudas de Capacitación Lingüística for Grado students. For the curso 2026/2027, the application window runs from 05 Oct 2026 to 30 Oct 2026. These grants are for students already enrolled in a Grado, so they help once you are at UGR, not before admission.
What to study: Grados, double degrees and the Ceuta and Melilla campuses
UGR, a public university founded in 1531, offers its Grados by branch in one table for the curso 2026-2027, the latest published, with campuses in Granada, Ceuta and Melilla.
UGR describes itself as a public university in the historic city of Granada, founded in the year 1531. Its offer table, headed GRADOS QUE SE OFERTAN EN EL CURSO 2026-2027, lists every Grado with its centre and its places, grouped by branch of knowledge.
The Ceuta and Melilla campuses
UGR also teaches in the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla. The offer table uses a legend, CE= CEUTA / ME=MELILLA, after the names of Grados taught there.
Medicine at UGR
The UGR Grado en Medicina carries 360 credits in total and is taught at the Facultad de Medicina. UGR's offer table lists Medicina with 272 and 0 as its two figures for the curso 2026-2027. Medicina admits by nota de admisión like every other Grado, so your PAU subjects and their ponderaciones decide your chances.
Tuition fees: precios públicos per crédito
UGR charges Grado tuition as a public price per credit, and its general student page states that the precios públicos per crédito are those set in Decreto 98/2023, of 2 May, of the Junta de Andalucía; UGR's own pages do not print the euro amount per credit.
Tuition at UGR depends on how many credits you enrol in each year, because the price is set per credit. UGR's information page for students points to the regional decree rather than a price list: the public prices per credit are those established in Decreto 98/2023, of 2 May. Read the current Junta de Andalucía decree for the figure per credit before you budget.
Non-EU students and passed credits
UGR's pages do not state a separate credit price for non-EU students, and they do not describe a bonificación (discount) for credits you have passed. Check the current Junta de Andalucía decree for your own situation before you enrol.
The PAU fee
The admission test has its own price. The Andalusian PAU sheet for the Convocatoria 2026 lists 14,70 € per subject. If you sit admission subjects to raise your mark, each subject is charged separately.
Exemptions and refunds
UGR's refund page covers access tests and administrative services. It lets you ask for a refund of amounts paid unduly (in full or in part) for access tests or administrative services managed by the SAAP. The same page lists the exemptions that apply to those fees.
| Situation | Reduction |
|---|---|
| Familia Numerosa Especial | 100% exemption |
| Familia Numerosa General | 50% bonificación |
| Disability (≥33%) | 100% exemption |
These reductions are listed for access-test and SAAP fees; the UGR refund page does not extend them to Grado tuition. UGR states that the right to request a refund lapses after 4 years.
Scholarships for UGR bachelor students
UGR's own scholarship list for the 2026/2027 year names calls with fixed windows: the convenio scholarships for Morocco closed on 30 Sep 2026, while the general study grant for Grado students runs from 15 Sep 2026 to 30 Oct 2026.
UGR's Vicerrectorado de Estudiantes publishes its becas propias as a list of calls, each with an opening and a closing date. The windows below are those of the latest published year. Several of them have already closed; for entry in a later course, expect new calls with new dates.
| Call | Window | Status on 18 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Becas de Convenios con Marruecos 26-27 | 04 Jun 2026 to 30 Sep 2026 | Closed |
| Becas y ayudas al Estudio de Carácter General 2026 (GRADO) | 15 Sep 2026 to 30 Oct 2026 | Open |
| Ayudas de Capacitación Lingüística, Grado, curso 2026/2027 | 05 Oct 2026 to 30 Oct 2026 | Open |
| Ayudas a los Primeros Clasificados en Olimpiadas 2026/2027 | 10 Sep 2026 to 29 Ene 2027 | Open |
Convenio scholarship for Morocco
One UGR call is tied to the applicant's country. The Becas de Convenios con Marruecos 26-27 ran from 04 Jun 2026 to 30 Sep 2026, listed to start or renew studies at the UGR.
General, language and olympiad grants
The UGR call for Becas y ayudas al Estudio de Carácter General 2026 (GRADO) is open from 15 Sep 2026 to 30 Oct 2026. The Ayudas de Capacitación Lingüística for Grado students of the curso 2026/2027 are open from 05 Oct 2026 to 30 Oct 2026.
UGR also rewards olympiad results: the Ayudas a los Primeros Clasificados en Olimpiadas 2026/2027 accept applications from 10 Sep 2026 to 29 Ene 2027.
Ministry scholarships
UGR's general information page for students links to the Becas del Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional, the national Spanish grants. UGR's pages do not set out who among foreign students qualifies; read the Ministry call itself.
Housing, international services and life in Granada
Most students at UGR, Spanish and international, share a flat, and UGR's international page puts the usual cost at around 300€ a month per room; UGR's housing office also lists residencias and colegios mayores.
UGR's international office states that most Spanish and international students choose to share a flat, usually with 3 or 4 people, because it is the cheapest option (around 300€ a month per room).
| Option | What UGR says |
|---|---|
| Shared flat | around 300€ a month per room, flats of 3 or 4 |
| Residencias universitarias and de estudiantes | Listed by the housing office: both residencias universitarias and collaborating student residences |
| Colegios mayores | Some, especially colegios mayores, have strict rules on living together |
The Oficina de Gestión de Alojamiento
UGR runs a housing office at the Oficina de Gestión de Alojamiento, Av. de Madrid s/n, Edificio V Centenario, 18071 Granada.
Colegios mayores and residencias
Through the same office, UGR offers information and booking mechanisms for its own colegios mayores and those with an agreement with the Universidad de Granada. UGR's residencias universitarias provide housing to guests and members of the university community, and the office lists both residencias universitarias and collaborating student residences. UGR's pages do not print residence prices or application dates.
International students at UGR
UGR says that more than 6000 international undergraduate, master's and doctoral students study there each year, and that the Universidad de Granada receives more than 2000 Erasmus students every year. You will not be the only foreign student in your Grado's city.
About UGR
UGR describes itself as a public university in the historic city of Granada, founded in the year 1531.
Who is the University of Granada for? Summary
UGR suits applicants who can study in Spanish and compete on one number, the nota de admisión, at public prices per credit set by Decreto 98/2023; it does not suit you if you need an English-taught Grado, because classes are taught in Spanish (except language classes).
UGR admits by merit alone: places are assigned strictly in the order of the nota de admisión, with no interview or essay. That makes UGR predictable. Your result depends on your translated school mark and on the admission subjects you add, not on a personal statement.
Which route is yours
| Your diploma | Route UGR describes |
|---|---|
| EU system, IB or European Baccalaureate | No homologación; present the UNED credential |
| System outside the EU without an agreement | The Ministry must recognise your studies as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato; then the fase de extranjeros, the PAU, or both |
If you hold an EU diploma, the IB or the European Baccalaureate, UGR's EU page is the procedure for students from an EU education system, with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the European Baccalaureate. UGR's sheet for these students states that homologación is not needed; you only present the UNED credential. Optional admission subjects are how you raise your mark.
If your diploma is from outside the EU and without an international agreement, UGR states that the Ministry of Education must recognise your studies as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato. UGR notes that many students apply in the fase de extranjeros and at the same time prepare the PAU for the fase ordinaria. For the curso 2026/2027, the fase de extranjeros was open only to those who finished pre-university studies outside Spain after 1 January 2023; UGR changes that date every year.
Next steps for autumn 2027 entry
UGR has not yet published the calendar for the following course. The latest published calendar states that its dates refer to 2026, so use it as a guide to the order and rough timing of each step, and check UGR's admission pages for the new dates.
| Step | Latest published date |
|---|---|
| PAU exams, ordinary session | 2, 3 and 4 June |
| Fase ordinaria applications | 11 to 22 June 2026 |
Start the paperwork early. Request the UNED credential or the homologación of your diploma early, prepare Spanish translations of your documents, and decide which admission subjects to sit. Each step only works if the one before it is done.
UGR: frequently asked questions
Does UGR teach degrees in English?
Not that UGR names. Asked whether any Grado is taught entirely in English, UGR's FAQ for students from foreign systems answers that classes are given in Spanish, except language classes. Plan your Spanish before you plan your application.
What are the UGR application deadlines?
The latest published dates are for curso 2026-2027 and have passed: the fase ordinaria ran from 11 to 22 June 2026, the fase extraordinaria from 9 to 14 July 2026 and the call for Grados with vacant places from 25 to 30 September 2026. The curso 2027-2028 calendar is not yet published, so use these as the pattern, not as your deadlines.
Do I need the PAU or an entrance exam for UGR?
It depends on your diploma. UGR's sheet for EU and agreement systems says holders of those diplomas can enter university without sitting the PAU. For other systems, UGR describes the fase de extranjeros as an early opportunity without an exam, but with a very limited offer. UGR publishes no rule that uses the SAT or the ACT.
Is homologación of my diploma required?
Not for EU, IB and agreement diplomas: UGR's sheet says no homologación is needed, only the UNED credential. For a system outside the EU without an agreement, UGR states that the Ministry must recognise your studies as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato, and you can apply with the receipt (resguardo) of the homologación request.
How does UGR rank applicants?
UGR assigns places strictly in the order of the nota de admisión. The nota de admisión is at most 14 points: the access mark plus the two best admission subjects, each multiplied by a weight. A nota de corte is not a minimum but the mark of the last person who obtained a place in a Grado.
How much does UGR cost?
UGR charges a public price per credit, and its general page says these prices are those set in Decreto 98/2023 of 2 May. The PAU has its own fee: the Andalusian sheet for the Convocatoria 2026 lists 14,70 € per subject. UGR's international office puts a room in a shared flat at around 300€ a month.
