Université Grenoble Alpes admissions for international applicants: routes, French level and deadlines for 2027

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) lists its first-year Licences open to the demande d'admission préalable (DAP) under a 2027-2028 recruitment campaign, and the DAP blanche page gives 15 December 2026 as the date to send your file. Which route you use depends on your nationality and where you live, the French level depends on the Licence, and the fee is set by your status.

UGA's DAP list sets a minimum French level for each first-year Licence it lists, so the language is the first thing to check.

UGA does not publish the 2027-2028 fee amounts. It states that from the 2027-2028 start of year it will apply the decree on fee exemptions for international students (in its words, “Dès la rentrée 2027-2028, l'UGA appliquera les dispositions prévues par le décret”). Check the fee chapter before you budget.

Rules that catch international applicants out

• The DAP list for 2027-2028 sets a minimum French level per Licence: B2 for Licence Mathématiques and C1 for Licence Psychologie, so check the level for your own Licence.
• UGA's DAP blanche page describes it as the procedure for students who are not EU citizens and do not live in France; applicants in a PEF country use PEF instead. Nationals of the EEA, Switzerland, Andorra or Monaco with a foreign diploma use Parcoursup.
• The 2026-2027 figures above are the current published fees. They are not a 2027-2028 price.

On rankings, UGA states that the Shanghai ranking of 2026 places it in the band 151-200 worldwide. That is UGA's own statement and the figure is a band, not a position.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) states that the way you apply dépend de la composante (l'école, la faculté ou l'institut) behind your programme. Grenoble INP - UGA, Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and ENSAG each run their own admission procedure, while UGA's own faculties take first-year Licence students.

The three schools run their own admissions

UGA states that the application procedure depends on the component, meaning the school, faculty or institute behind the programme. For Grenoble INP schools, Sciences Po Grenoble and ENSAG, the UGA application page sends you to each school's own website. Their entry requirements are not the Licence route described in the other chapters.

• Grenoble INP - UGA groups its own schools, among them Ense3, Ensimag, Esisar, Génie industriel, Pagora, Phelma, Grenoble IAE and Polytech Grenoble. For these schools UGA's application page says Voir la procédure à suivre sur le site web de Grenoble INP.
• Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA handles its own admission; UGA's application page says Voir la procédure à suivre sur le site web de Science Po Grenoble.
• ENSAG, the architecture school, handles its own admission; UGA's application page says Voir la procédure à suivre sur le site web de l'ENSAG.

Who handles first-year Licence and BUT students

For a first-year Licence or BUT, these UGA components are the ones that matter:

The medicine, pharmacy, humanities and STAPS programmes sit in the other components; the medicine chapter covers the health route.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) states that the Shanghai ranking of 2026 places it in the 151-200 band worldwide, and that QS World University Rankings Europe 2026 puts it 130th among European universities. These are UGA's own statements, not positions taken from the publishers' tables.

Both figures come from UGA's own news pages, one per ranking. Shanghai gives UGA a band rather than a single position, and QS Europe is a European table, not the QS World table.

Shanghai ranking 2026

In the Shanghai ranking of 2026, UGA says it is in the 151-200 band worldwide and 6th nationally, alongside Aix-Marseille and Montpellier. UGA adds that this puts it among the 8 best French universities.

QS Europe and QS by Subject 2026

In the QS Europe table of 2026, published on 28 January, UGA says it ranks 130th among European universities. Nationally it is 6th among French universities and 1st among French universities outside Paris.

In QS by Subject 2026, UGA says it appears in 26 of the 55 disciplines assessed. In the broad area Natural sciences it says it is 91st worldwide.

How to read these numbers

Each line in the table is UGA's own statement about one ranking, as UGA's news pages publish it. Read a Shanghai band as a range of positions, not as a rank.

None of these UGA pages gives a QS World University Rankings position or a CWUR position.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) does not publish an overall acceptance rate or the capacities of its first-year Licences. What it does publish is which first-year tracks are selective: the international Licence tracks, chosen on the file.

Which first-year tracks are selective

UGA's Parcoursup answers page says that the answer "Non" is used only for selective programmes: cela ne concerne que les formations sélectives. Several international tracks are selective or limited in number:

• Licence Sciences de la vie: the Licence page calls Biologie international a parcours sélectif whose courses are dispensés à 80% en anglais.
• Licence Physique: Physique Chimie Mécanique International is described as un parcours sélectif.
• Licence Informatique: Les effectifs des parcours internationaux sont limités and selection is on the file.

UGA publishes no applicant numbers or places for these tracks, so there is no rate to quote for them.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) selects on your application file: it states that nous vérifions que vous remplissez bien tous les critères nécessaires for the programme you chose. On Parcoursup that file is examined by each programme's commission against the skills and knowledge shown on the programme sheet.

UGA publishes no entrance exam and no points formula for the Licence. It publishes what each programme expects of candidates, and the commission reads your file against that.

What the file contains

On Parcoursup you confirm each wish and complete your file, notably the Fiche Avenir, which holds your school's opinion, your marks and your motivation for the programme. The files are analysed by the commissions d'examen des vœux of UGA's programmes, under their own pedagogical criteria. Each sheet shows ce qui est attendu des candidats, such as the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

UGA does not list a sworn translation or a language certificate as part of a Parcoursup file, so do not treat either as a requirement of the Licence file.

Parcoursup answers and Oui-Si

Parcoursup answers are "Oui" and "Oui, si", then "En attente" and "Non". The "Non" answer cela ne concerne que les formations sélectives. With "Oui, si" you are admitted on condition of following a personalised support path.

At UGA, a Oui-Si means personalised support formalised by un contrat pédagogique pour la réussite étudiante. UGA lists these formats, among others:

What Licence pages expect

• Licence Mathématiques: the ability to document yourself in at least one foreign language, preferably English, and to write and speak it à un niveau B2; une très bonne maîtrise of end-of-terminale mathematics is recommended. The page adds that un bon niveau en mathématiques est attendu.
• Licence Informatique: un bon niveau en mathématiques est attendu, together with abstraction, rigour and written and oral expression.
• Licence Physique (portail Physique-chimie-mécanique-mathématiques): un bon niveau en mathématiques et physique est attendu.
• Licence Économie et Gestion: compétences mathématiques et statistiques indispensables.
• Licence Psychologie: un bon niveau dans au moins une des disciplines among mathematics, physics-chemistry and life and earth sciences. The same page asks for Niveau de français requis : C1.

International tracks

The international version of Licence Sciences de la vie is open in first year sur dossier, après évaluation du niveau académique et du niveau d'anglais. For the Licence Informatique international tracks, UGA states that students are sélectionnés sur dossier (niveau scientifique + niveau d'anglais). UGA does not publish a minimum mark or a minimum English score for these tracks.

Which route you use for a first-year Licence at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) depends on your diploma, your nationality and where you live. Holders of a French baccalauréat or DAEU and EEA, Swiss, Andorran or Monegasque nationals with a foreign diploma apply on Parcoursup (vous devez postuler sur Parcoursup); non-EEA applicants use the DAP verte, the Etudes en France (PEF) platform or the DAP blanche.

UGA's route selector for the first year of a Licence sorts you in this order. Read the row that matches your situation, not the one that sounds closest.

Residents of France who hold refugee status, subsidiary protection, stateless status or are asylum seekers suivent une procédure spécifique.

PEF, DAP blanche and DAP verte

• PEF: for non-EU nationals living in a Campus France network country, who doivent impérativement passer par la plateforme Études en France (PEF). The PEF page shows the entry-2026 calendar: a first-year Licence applicant could make trois vœux maximum and had to file avant le 15 décembre 2025, a deadline that has passed.
• DAP blanche: the procedure for students who ne sont pas citoyens de l'Union européenne et qui ne résident pas en France.
• DAP verte: for non-EU citizens already living in France. You can choose une seule mention dans 3 universités différentes, or three mentions in one university, or three mentions in three universities.

BUT from abroad

UGA's selector has a separate branch for a first-year bachelor universitaire de technologie (BUT), so check the BUT branch if you want a BUT rather than a Licence. For the Licence, holders of a French baccalauréat or DAEU vous devez postuler sur Parcoursup, in the selector's words.

How many wishes you can make

The UGA Parcoursup page, which shows the 2026 session, allowed un maximum de 10 vœux for that session. For the PEF and DAP verte limits, see the bullets above. eCandidat, which UGA describes as its online platform for licence, master and other applications, allows jusqu'à 4 vœux.

Every procedure page of UGA asks you to check, before you start, that the procedure est bien appliquée in the school, faculty or institute behind your programme.

For the DAP route, UGA's DAP verte page opened the procedure on 1 October 2026 and sets 15 December 2026 as the date to send your file, with university answers due by 30 April 2027 and your reply by 31 May 2027. The same page lists the first-year Licences open to the DAP for the 2027-2028 recruitment campaign. UGA has not published 2027 dates for Parcoursup or Etudes en France.

The calendar block itself names no academic year. Step 1, below it on the same page, names the 2027-2028 campaign for the list of first-year Licences. The DAP blanche page states the same dates: 15 December 2026 for the file, 30 April 2027 for the university answer and 31 May 2027 for your reply.

Where the DAP file goes

Applicants living in France use the "dossier vert" and send it by post to Université Grenoble Alpes, Direction des études et de la formation initiale, Service Admission (DAP) CS 40700 38058 Grenoble Cedex 9.

Parcoursup: the 2026 session, not 2027

UGA's Parcoursup page says that the official opening dates for the academic year 2026-2027 ne sont pas encore connues. The calendar it shows is the 2026 session, and every date in it has passed:

• Offer of programmes from 17 December 2025.
• Registration and wishes from 19 January 2026 to 12 March 2026.
• Confirmation of wishes and completion of the file until 1 April 2026.
• Offers and answers from 2 June 2026 to 10 September 2026.

Etudes en France: dates shown are for entry in 2026

UGA's PEF page shows the calendar for entry in 2026: applications from 1 October 2025, review by consular services until 15 March 2026, university answers until 30 April 2026 and a final choice before 31 May 2026. These dates have passed and they are not the dates for 2027.

Start of classes and enrolment

For the academic year 2026-2027, UGA's first-semester classes started on 31 August 2026 or 7 September 2026, depending on the school, faculty or institute. UGA has not published a 2027-2028 calendar. After you accept a UGA offer on Parcoursup, you can enrol administratively à partir du mois de juillet. Applicants admitted through PEF enrol directement auprès de la scolarité of their school, faculty or institute.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) sets a minimum French level per Licence in its DAP list for the 2027-2028 campaign: B2 for most science, law, economics, history and language parcours, and C1 for Psychology, STAPS, MIASHS, Sociology, Lettres, Arts du spectacle, Sciences de l'éducation and several double licences. The Test de connaissance du français (TCF) is compulsory for the DAP, sauf dans certains cas.

These levels apply to applicants on the DAP route: the DAP verte and DAP blanche. UGA does not publish a French certificate rule for EU applicants who apply on Parcoursup, so do not read this table as their rule.

The level is set per Licence, so a B2 certificate is enough for some Licences and not for others. UGA's Licence Psychologie page repeats it: Niveau de français requis : C1.

French level for the other Licences

The same DAP list for 2027-2028 sets a level for every other first-year Licence parcours. Check the row for your parcours, since two parcours of one mention can differ.

The TCF on the DAP: cost and exemptions

On the DAP blanche page, UGA states that the TCF is compulsory except in some cases. The test lasts 2h25 and costs 75 €. The DAP verte page gives the same terms (Le test dure 2h25 et coûte 75 €) and says UGA holds the TCF on 28 janvier 2027.

The DAP blanche page lists six exemptions. You must prove an exemption before the file deadline.

• Ressortissant d'un pays francophone où le français est la seule langue officielle.
• A resident of such a country who holds un diplôme de fin d'études secondaires obtenu dans ce même pays.
• A pupil who followed la majeure partie de ses études secondaires en français, even if the country is not exclusively French-speaking.
• A pupil of a lycée à l'étranger figurant sur la liste officielle des établissements d'enseignement français.
• A holder of a DELF or DALF: the DAP verte page waives the TCF sous réserve que votre niveau (B2, C1, etc.) corresponde aux exigences de votre formation.
• A holder of the TEF with the oral tests passed and un score minimum de 400/699 in the written tests.

The DAP verte page lists the same exemptions for applicants who already live in France: a Ressortissant d'un pays francophone où le français est la seule langue officielle, a Résident d'un pays francophone où le français est la seule langue officielle with a secondary diploma from that country, a pupil who followed la majeure partie de ses études secondaires en français, and a TEF holder with un score minimum de 400/699 in the written tests.

Improving your French at UGA

The Centre universitaire d'études françaises (CUEF) runs the DUEF (B1, B2, C1, C2), which combines language and subject courses. It is 18h of classes a week over 12 semaines, or 216h excluding exams. UGA states that the DUEF lets you apply to higher education at UGA and at most French universities à partir de la Licence 2, so it is a route to Licence 2, not to first year. The DUEF page gives the same rule: à partir de la Licence 2.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) opens the Licence Mathématiques in year 1 to holders of a baccalauréat français, DAEUB ou diplôme équivalent, and it publishes no minimum grade for the IB, A-levels, the Polish matura, a US high school diploma or the Abitur. Admission is decided on your file; the route you use depends on your nationality and residence.

The Licence Mathématiques page says that the first year is open to holders of the baccalauréat or a diploma accepted as equivalent, such as the capacité en droit or the DAEU, and to foreign applicants living outside the EU through the DAP. Grenoble Alpes does not publish a required IB total, A-level grade, matura percentage or US GPA for any Licence.

Which diplomas count

• For the health route, the PASS and L.AS page asks for the Baccalauréat ou un diplôme admis en dispense du baccalauréat par la réglementation nationale.
• The Licence Mathématiques page lists its target public for entry in year 1 as baccalauréat français, DAEUB ou diplôme équivalent.
• Holders of their own country's secondary-school diploma who want a first-year Licence or the PASS doivent obligatoirement remplir un formulaire de Demande d'Admission Préalable. The DAP route applies to applicants outside Parcoursup; see the route chapter for who that is.

EEA national or not

For the PASS, the 2026-2027 rules also admit by right Les étudiants français ou étrangers titulaires d’un baccalauréat français passé à l’étranger. EEA and Swiss nationals with a baccalauréat étranger ou d’un diplôme permettant l’accès à l’enseignement supérieur dans leur pays d’origine are admitted by individual decision, as are foreign candidates with recognised qualifications ayant effectué la procédure D.A.P. (Demande d’Admission Préalable).

UGA does not publish a conversion table for foreign diplomas. The programme sheet and its attendus are the only published guide to what the commission expects.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) publishes no entrance exam, SAT, ACT or subject test for its first-year Licences. The one test it names for international first-year applicants is the Test de connaissance du français (TCF), which is obligatoire on the DAP unless you are exempt, lasts 2h25 and costs 75 €.

Parcoursup applications are judged on the file, which includes the Fiche Avenir with your school's opinion, your marks and your motivation. UGA describes no interview for a first-year Licence.

The TCF on the DAP

On the DAP verte page, UGA says you must take the TCF at one of the universities you apply to, and that at UGA it is organised on 28 January 2027. A holder of a DELF ou DALF at the level the programme requires does not need the TCF. The French chapter lists all six exemptions and the level each Licence asks for. On the DAP blanche page the TCF dure 2h25 et coûte 75 €, and the exemptions include a Ressortissant d'un pays francophone où le français est la seule langue officielle, a Résident d'un pays francophone où le français est la seule langue officielle with a secondary diploma from it, a pupil schooled la majeure partie de ses études secondaires en français and a TEF holder with un score minimum de 400/699 in the written tests.

Where interviews appear

The Grenoble IAE Bachelor is not a first-year entry. Its page opens the programme to students who have completed 120 credits in a related course of studies, so it suits you after two years of university study. The oral tests in the medicine row belong to second-year admission, not to the first year.

UGA does not publish a minimum English score for the international Licence tracks, and no interview date for any Licence.

Medicine at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) starts with the Parcours d'Accès Spécifique Santé (PASS), run by the UFR Médecine and UFR Pharmacie, or with a Licence with a health option (L.AS). PASS is a one-year, 60 crédits course taught in French, and a candidate may apply for second-year health studies deux fois.

The PASS is run by the medicine and pharmacy faculties and taught in French. PASS teaching includes preparation for the second group of exams, un module d'anglais and a disciplinary option of 10 ECTS.

The L.AS alternative

A Licence with a health option is offered at the Grenoble and Valence sites of UGA and at Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB). At the Département licence sciences et technologie in Grenoble, the L.AS Licences are Chimie et biochimie ; Informatique, mathématiques et applications ; Physique, chimie, mécanique, mathématiques ; Sciences pour l'ingénieur ; Sciences du vivant. UGA also lists L.AS in Droit, Economie-gestion and, in the social sciences, MIASHS.

How you apply with a foreign diploma

• French baccalauréat or DAEU-B holders apply on Parcoursup. The PASS rules for 2026-2027 let holders of a baccalauréat or an equivalent French diploma enrol de plein droit.
• French or foreign students holding a French baccalauréat taken abroad also enrol by right: Les étudiants français ou étrangers titulaires d’un baccalauréat français passé à l’étranger.
• EEA or Swiss nationals with a baccalauréat étranger ou d’un diplôme permettant l’accès à l’enseignement supérieur dans leur pays d’origine are admitted sur décision individuelle.
• Les candidats étrangers titulaires de titres reconnus par la réglementation en vigueur in the rules' words, are admitted by individual decision once they have effectué la procédure D.A.P., the demande d'admission préalable.

Holders of their own country's secondary-school diploma who want the PASS must fill in a DAP form; the route chapter explains which DAP applies to you.

Admission to second-year medicine

UGA recruits into the second year through two groups of exams. In the first group, candidates ranked by merit are admitted directly within capacity, which recruits 50% of the admitted students. The second group consists of deux épreuves orales comptant pour 30% de la note. A candidate may apply twice, provided that the second application follows validation of au moins 60 crédits ECTS supplémentaires.

Cost and size

In the 2026-2027 registration-fee table, PASS sits in the group priced at 178 € at the national rate and 2 902 € at the differentiated rate. UGA publishes no PASS acceptance rate for international applicants.

At first-cycle level Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) offers licences, licences professionnelles, BUT, DEUST, prépa écoles d'ingénieurs. The Licences on the DAP list for 2027-2028 range from sciences to law, economics, humanities, languages and STAPS.

UGA's online catalogue describes all of these first-cycle diplomas. Grenoble INP - UGA, Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA and ENSAG are separate établissements-composantes with their own admissions, so their programmes are not part of this Licence list.

Where the main Licences sit

• Sciences: first-year science Licences sit in the Faculté des sciences. The Licence Mathématiques page lists Français as the language of teaching.
• Multidisciplinary science: the Licence pluridisciplinaire scientifique n'existe que sur le site de Valence.
• Law and economics: the ESST faculties. The Licence Droit page lists Anglais, Français as teaching languages at page level, not per parcours, so check the parcours before you count on English.
• Languages and economics: the LEA page describes a double licence in languages and economics-management as a filière sélective at Grenoble or Valence.

The French chapter has the level for every Licence on the list.

What a BUT involves

The BUT is taught at the IUTs, which UGA has merged into the EUT. As an example, the BUT Informatique in Grenoble is a course of three years with 1800 heures of teaching, 600 heures of supervised activities and internships of 22 à 26 semaines or work-study.

English-taught first-cycle options

UGA's catalogue, filtered on science, technology, health and engineering taught in English, shows Licence (5) and Master (21). The English-taught programmes chapter lists the tracks.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) runs international first-cycle tracks with a large share of teaching in English, among them Biologie international, Physique chimie mécanique international and Mathématiques-informatique international. Admission to them is selective. In the Biologie international track, courses are dispensés à 80% en anglais.

For Biologie international, UGA gives two figures: about 75% of the first two years taught and assessed in English in one place, and 80% in the track description. Both figures are on the same Licence page; ask the department which one applies to your year.

How the international tracks select

For the Licence Informatique international tracks, UGA states that the numbers are limited and that students are sélectionnés sur dossier (niveau scientifique + niveau d'anglais). An IELTS score is not stated as an entry requirement.

Licence Mathématiques is a French-taught Licence, but its prerequisites mention a foreign language, preferably English, written and spoken à un niveau B2.

Masters and bachelor-level options in English

UGA offers programmes de licences, de masters et de diplômes d'ingénieur enseignés en anglais. In its catalogue, the filter for science, technology, health and engineering taught in English shows Licence (5) and Master (21). UGA does not publish a single IELTS or TOEFL threshold for its Masters.

Two English-taught bachelors sit in member schools, not in the Licence route:

• On its 2026-2027 programme page, the Bachelor in International Business and Management at Grenoble IAE has 80% to 100% of courses in English depending on the track. It asks for minimum B1 level in English on the CEFR (B2 level is mandatory for English Track), after completing 120 credits in a related course. It gives Anglais as the language of teaching.
• The 2026-2027 page of the Bachelor in nuclear engineering at Grenoble INP - Phelma lists Anglais as its language of teaching. Grenoble INP - UGA runs its own admission.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) surveys its graduates every year and links the full survey results from its graduate-outcomes page. That page itself gives the size of each graduating cohort, and in the employability ranking it cites UGA stands 232nd worldwide.

Graduate surveys

UGA invites Licence graduates to describe their situation dans les six mois qui suivent l'obtention de leur diplôme. Master and licence professionnelle graduates are surveyed twice, and the full results of each survey are linked from the same page.

The employability ranking UGA cites

UGA says that in the THE / Emerging Global Employability University Ranking of 2026 it stands 232nd worldwide. That is the university's own statement and a single table; it is not a measure of the career of a Licence graduate.

For a doctorate, UGA's 2026-2027 registration-fee table lists 398 €. A Licence and Master are the usual first steps toward that route; the cost chapter has the other fee lines.

For the academic year 2026-2027, a Licence at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) costs 178 € at the national rate and 2 902 € at the differentiated rate, plus the CVEC of 105 €. UGA has not published the 2027-2028 amounts, and its fee page still shows 2026-2027.

The table heading reads Montant des droits d'inscription à l'UGA pour l'année universitaire 2026-2027, and the amounts are set nationally. A second diploma carries reduced rates: for a Licence, 167 € at the national rate and 1 934 € at the differentiated rate.

Who pays the national rate and who pays differentiated fees

• National rate: Étudiants français ou ressortissants d'un pays de l'Union européenne, de l'Espace économique européen ou de la Suisse.
• National rate also applies to non-European foreign students résidents du Québec and to holders of a long-term residence card or students in a French tax household depuis plus de deux ans.
• Differentiated rate: aux étudiants étrangers hors Europe who are not in the cases above.
• For 2026-2027, students who wanted an exemption from the differentiated fees had to apply and declare their resources; the exemption chapter covers what changes for 2027-2028.

The CVEC

For 2026-2027 the CVEC is 105 €, paid or certified before enrolment. As a rule, every student enrolling in French higher education pays it. You are exempt if you receive a bourse sur critères sociaux, or hold refugee status, subsidiary protection or are an asylum seeker with the right to stay in France.

What is published for 2027-2028

UGA states that Dès la rentrée 2027-2028 it will apply the provisions of the decree on fee exemptions for international students. The 2027-2028 fee amounts are not published, so any 2027-2028 budget you make is an assumption. The scholarships chapter covers the exemption rules.

UGA's fee pages give no living costs, so the figures in this chapter are registration fees and the CVEC only.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) treats fee exemptions for international students under a national decree: for the academic year 2026-2027 you must apply and declare your resources, and from the 2027-2028 start of year UGA applies the provisions of the decree. UGA lists no scholarship amounts for undergraduates on these pages.

UGA describes 2026-2027 as une année de transition, followed from the academic year 2027-2028 by a scheme oriented toward the support, inclusion and success of international students. It also states that it is committed to keep welcoming international students sans surcoût supplémentaire, dans la plupart de nos cycles de formation.

How to ask for an exemption from differentiated fees in 2026-2027

• If you apply on eCandidat, you find the formulaire de demande d'exonération des droits différenciés directement dans le dossier de candidature.
• If you applied through PEF or the DAP and were accepted, you contact the scolarité of your school, faculty or institute for the form and return it avant de vous inscrire. This is the procedure on the page that calls 2026-2027 a transition year; UGA has not published the 2027-2028 procedure.
• If your programme depends on ENSAG or a Grenoble INP - UGA school, les conditions d'exonérations sont différentes.

What the decree changes

Le décret du 19 mai 2026 changes the rules under which universities may grant fee exemptions to international students. Automatic exemptions are kept for several categories, notably boursiers du gouvernement français, les pupilles de la Nation. Other exemptions are granted on the applicant's personal situation, including financial resources, under a progressive cap that reaches à terme une limite fixée à 20% des demandes.

Students already exempted before the decree keep the exemption jusqu'à la fin de leur cycle d'études à l'UGA. UGA chose a approche redistributive, under which the revenue of the scheme, after management costs, goes to the study conditions and social support of international students. UGA does not publish a 2027-2028 amount, so do not assume you will be exempt.

Exemption from registration fees

A separate registration-fee exemption exists. If you are a Crous or French-government scholarship holder on a grant-eligible programme, vous n'aurez pas à payer les frais d'inscription. Check the conditions before you count on it as a first-year applicant from abroad.

Grants and housing aid UGA names

UGA's student portal lists Les bourses du Crous Les bourses des fondations de l'Université Grenoble Alpes Les bourses de la Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and housing aid from the CAF. UGA does not publish the amounts or the eligibility of international first-year students on these pages, and it publishes no Erasmus+ grant amounts.

The student portal also lists Les résidences étudiantes publiques du Crous à Grenoble, and UGA publishes no rent for these residences. The Welcome Center - MUSE offers permanences gratuites sur le logement every month.

Arriving as an international student

In Grenoble, the welcome desk is the iCampus - Welcome center. UGA also runs an international portal for students, doctoral candidates and researchers, which covers conditions d'entrée en France, demander ou retirer un titre de séjour, droit au travail and further steps such as housing, health insurance and the cost of living.

UGA's housing and student-life pages give no monthly cost of living, food price or transport price, so budget from the housing offers you receive and from the fee chapter, not from a figure attributed to UGA.

Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) suits applicants ready to study in French at the level their Licence sets, from B2 for Informatique to C1 for STAPS, or applicants who plan an English-taught Master later. For the DAP, the next date is the file deadline of 15 December 2026.

Who it suits

• Applicants who can show the French level of their Licence on the DAP list for 2027-2028: B2 for Licence Informatique, C1 for Licence STAPS.
• Applicants who want an English-taught route: UGA's first-year options in English are the partly English international Licence tracks, and English-taught Masters come later.
• Applicants who accept that admission is decided on the file and that UGA publishes no minimum grade for foreign diplomas.

Next steps for entry in autumn 2027

If you apply on Parcoursup as an EEA national or as a holder of a French diploma, UGA's Parcoursup page says that the official opening dates for 2026-2027 ne sont pas encore connues. Check that page for the next session.

Language levels to plan for

French: the level is set by Licence on the DAP list, and the French chapter lists each one. The Centre universitaire d'études françaises offers the DUEF (B1, B2, C1, C2) to build your level. English: the Licence Mathématiques page expects a foreign language, preferably English, à un niveau B2. UGA does not publish an IELTS or TOEFL threshold for its Masters.
