INSA Toulouse admission at a glance
INSA Toulouse takes students into a five-year engineering course after the bac, and its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level. Tuition for French and EU engineering students is 630 € a year for 2026-2027, the latest published; 2027-2028 is not yet published.
INSA Toulouse states that its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level, across 7 INSA schools in France, so you do not apply to Toulouse alone. In the ASINSA section of INSA Toulouse's international page, holders of a French baccalauréat apply on Parcoursup, while holders of a foreign secondary-school diploma apply through the Groupe INSA international jury. Admission is also possible later in the course: INSA Toulouse lists entry in year 2, 3 and 4, depending on your diplomas.
INSA Toulouse describes itself with a few figures on its "INSA Toulouse" page: founded in 1963, more than 3 300 students, more than 700 staff and 20 537 INSA Toulouse engineers trained. The international page reports 23.5% foreign students from 89 nationalities, and the careers page says 98% of graduates sign their contract less than 6 months after leaving INSA Toulouse; that page gives no survey year.
Rules that catch international applicants out
- The 5-year training offer is in French. On the GLOBALINSA track, which is aimed at English-speaking or bilingual students, INSA Toulouse says students join the classic engineering curriculum and study in French from the 2nd year.
- Non-EU students pay differentiated fees. According to INSA Toulouse's registration page as of October 2026, these are 2 902 € a year for years 1 and 2 and 3 950 € a year for years 3 / 4 / 5 of the engineering course; the page puts no academic year on these two amounts.
- INSA Toulouse quotes its international-track fees for the first year, for example 1 929 EUR for European students / 5 029 EUR for non-European students on GLOBALINSA via the international jury, with no academic year on the page. Its admissions page also states that non-EU students must pay the differentiated fees.
- If you are a foreign national whose mother tongue is not French, you take an online test to validate your French level during registration, and an A1 to B2 result places you in French as a Foreign Language courses. INSA Toulouse lists this test among the registration steps, not among the admission conditions.
INSA Toulouse does not publish an admission rate, a number of first-year places or a minimum grade for applicants with a foreign diploma. The chapters below set out each route, the language rules, the fees and the international tracks as INSA Toulouse's pages state them.
| Topic | What INSA Toulouse publishes |
|---|---|
| Course | 5 years of engineering training, after the bac |
| Route | In the track sections: French bac via Parcoursup, foreign secondary diploma via the Groupe INSA international jury |
| Language | The 5-year training offer is in French; GLOBALINSA students study in French from the 2nd year |
| Fee | 630 € a year for French and EU students (2026-2027); non-EU students 2 902 € a year for years 1 and 2 |
| Selection | In the IBERINSA section of INSA Toulouse's international page, the Groupe INSA international jury assesses foreign-diploma applications and decides; no admission rate is published |
INSA Toulouse is a public engineering school of the Groupe INSA
INSA Toulouse is a public engineering school, created in 1963, that trains engineers in a 5-year course after the baccalauréat. It belongs to the Groupe INSA, a network of 7 schools across France.
INSA Toulouse describes itself as a public, multidisciplinary and international engineering school with a five-year course after the bac. The INSA schools are, in the words of their statutes, public establishments of a scientific, cultural and professional character (EPSCP). INSA Toulouse organises its teaching and research around 8 speciality departments, several centres and 8 research laboratories.
Groupe INSA, Université de Toulouse and ECIU
INSA Toulouse presents the Groupe INSA as the first network of public engineering schools in France, with 7 schools across the country and nearly 22 000 student engineers, architects and landscape architects a year. INSA Toulouse states that its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level, so a first-year application goes through the group rather than to Toulouse alone. The INSA model, according to INSA Toulouse, goes back to Gaston Berger, co-founder of the INSA schools, and rests on two pillars: fighting social reproduction and carrying humanist values.
INSA Toulouse's English page calls INSA Toulouse a founding member of the University of Toulouse, which brings together 15 higher education institutions and 7 research institutes with more than 110,000 students.
INSA Toulouse is, with the Groupe INSA, a member of ECIU, a European alliance of universities focused on innovation and social change. The French presentation page counts 13 universities of the European Union in ECIU; the international page counts 12.
The rules, fees and figures on this page are INSA Toulouse's own, not those of other higher-education institutions in Toulouse.
INSA Toulouse in figures
| Figure | INSA Toulouse's number | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Students | more than 3 300 | About page (French) |
| Staff | more than 700 | About page (French) |
| Engineers trained | 20 537 in the key figures; more than 19 000 in the text | About page (French) |
| Engineers graduating a year | more than 600 | Training page |
| Women among students | 38% | Training page |
| Campus | 20 hectares | About page (French) |
The two engineer counts sit on the same French page: the key-figure panel says 20 537 INSA Toulouse engineers, while the presentation text says more than 19 000 engineers. INSA Toulouse dates neither figure, so treat both as the school's own description rather than a counted total for a given year.
Rankings and accreditation
INSA Toulouse does not list overall ranking positions on its presentation and admission pages, and those pages give no written statement of CTI or EUR-ACE accreditation. What INSA Toulouse does write is a claim of its own: it ranks among the best French engineering schools accessible after the bac, without naming a ranking.
Parcoursup or the Groupe INSA international jury: which first-year route applies to you
In the track sections of INSA Toulouse's international page, your diploma decides your route into the first year: holders of a French baccalauréat apply on Parcoursup, and holders of a foreign secondary-school diploma apply via the Groupe INSA international jury, which assesses the applications and decides the admissions. INSA Toulouse states that its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level, so you apply to the group, not to Toulouse alone.
INSA Toulouse's admissions page offers three first-year entries: with a general bac, with an STI2D or STL bac, and with a foreign bac. INSA Toulouse describes its recruitment as common at Groupe INSA level.
| Your situation | Route and entry year |
|---|---|
| French baccalauréat (general, STI2D or STL) | Parcoursup, 1st year |
| Foreign secondary-school diploma | Groupe INSA international jury, 1st year |
| Higher-education studies already started | Entry in year 2, 3 or 4, depending on your diplomas |
| At least bac + 2 (for example DUT or BTS) | Entry in 3rd year |
| Apprenticeship | Entry in 3rd year, in one of 4 specialities |
| Foreign student aiming at a master | The n+i network of nearly 50 engineering grandes écoles |
One recruitment for the whole Groupe INSA
INSA Toulouse explains that its recruitment is common to 7 INSA schools in France: Centre Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, Lyon, Rennes, Rouen-Normandie, Strasbourg and Toulouse. The same recruitment also covers 6 partner INSA schools, including ISIS Castres and Sup'EnR UPVD Perpignan. INSA Toulouse's own pages do not set out that procedure's dates, criteria or language level.
The Groupe INSA international jury
In the ASINSA section of INSA Toulouse's international page, the rule is stated plainly: candidates holding a French baccalauréat apply on Parcoursup, and candidates holding a foreign secondary-school diploma apply via the Groupe INSA international jury. The IBERINSA section adds that the Groupe INSA international jury assesses the applications and decides the admissions of foreign-diploma holders.
The international first-year tracks use the same two routes. The ASINSA section gives the same Parcoursup or international jury split, and the IBERINSA section sets one fee for admission by the international jury and another via Parcoursup. NORGINSA is the exception: its prerequisites, procedures and fees are handled by a correspondent in Norway. For the 2026 intake, applicants who came through Parcoursup and wanted a track also sent a short track file before 25 July 2026, covered in the tests chapter.
Entry after one or more years of higher education
INSA Toulouse says you can join in year 2, 3 or 4 depending on your diplomas.
On its registration page for the 2026 intake, INSA Toulouse names the platforms on which the choice of programme is validated: Parcoursup, SAGI, ecandidat; online registration opened only once that choice was final.
INSA Toulouse admissions step by step: dates for the 2027 intake
INSA Toulouse does not publish first-year application dates for the 2027 intake on its own pages: its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level. The dates INSA Toulouse does publish for 2027 are an open day on Saturday 6 February 2027 and online admission sessions; every dated registration step on its pages belongs to the 2026 intake and has passed.
Open day and admission sessions for 2027
INSA Toulouse's open day for 2027 is on Saturday 6 February 2027, from 9h to 17h. The programme includes presentations of the admission process for the 1st and 3rd years, which is the most direct way to hear how the common Groupe INSA recruitment works before you apply.
The Groupe INSA also runs a series called "Lives admissions 2027" on its Instagram account (@groupeinsa), listed on INSA Toulouse's open-day page: 17 December for 3rd-year admission, and 20 January and 2 March for 1st-year admission, each at 6 pm. These are information sessions, not application deadlines.
What happened after admission in the 2026 intake
Once admitted, a new student registers with INSA Toulouse. The steps below are the ones INSA Toulouse published for the 2026 intake. They show the order and the kind of deadline to expect; the 2027 calendar is not yet published, so do not read these dates as the 2027 rule.
For the 2026 intake, fees could be paid by card in 1 or 3 instalments. The same registration page lists a reopening from 24 August to 4 September, with no year on the line, so it cannot be read as the 2027 rule.
Arts sections and other windows
According to INSA Toulouse's sections page as of October 2026, applications to the Musique-Études section are filed from January to March; the page gives no year for this window. For the 2026 intake, applicants who had come through Parcoursup and wanted an international track sent their file before 25 July 2026.
The exchange and double-degree windows on the international page are not first-year routes. Exchange students apply from 1 October to 10 November for the spring semester of the academic year in progress and from 1 March to 10 April for the following academic year's autumn semester. Double-degree students apply from 1 March to 10 April for the next academic year.
How INSA Toulouse selects first-year students and how selective it is
First-year selection at INSA Toulouse is not decided by INSA Toulouse alone: its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level, and in the GLOBALINSA section of its international page INSA Toulouse states that the Groupe INSA international jury assesses the applications and decides the admission of foreign-diploma holders. INSA Toulouse does not publish applicant numbers, places, offers or an admit rate for first year, and its own pages do not set out the jury's criteria.
The common recruitment covers 7 INSA schools in France, from Centre Val de Loire to Toulouse. The IBERINSA section of INSA Toulouse's international page says the same about the jury: it assesses the applications and decides the admissions of students with a foreign secondary-school diploma. INSA Toulouse's pages do not list that jury's grades, weights or interview stages. INSA Toulouse's open-day page also lists a Groupe INSA live session on first-year admission on 2 March, in the Lives admissions 2027 series: an information event, not a decision date.
How selective is INSA Toulouse?
INSA Toulouse does not publish how many people apply for its first year, how many places it fills or what share of applicants it admits, either overall or for applicants from abroad. What it does say is a claim of its own: INSA Toulouse writes that it ranks among the best French engineering schools accessible after the bac, without naming a ranking. Read that as the school's description of itself, not as a measured admit rate.
High-level athletes and artists
INSA Toulouse runs special sections with their own selection on top of the common recruitment. For sport, the files of high-level athletes on the ministerial lists are examined specifically by the INSA admission jury. INSA Toulouse counts as high-level athletes those on the ministerial lists (elite, senior, youth, hopeful, training partner) and athletes of an approved training centre. A candidate who is not on those lists but has a sufficient level and significant results can still apply for Sport-Études.
| Section | What INSA Toulouse publishes |
|---|---|
| Sport-Études, first year | 24 students in a specific group of high-level athletes |
| Sport-Études, whole school | More than 300 athletes welcomed so far, 70 in training according to INSA Toulouse's page |
| Danse-Études | Admissions limited to 25; all dancer profiles accepted |
| Théâtre-Études | Admissions limited to 18 |
| Musique-Études | About forty students with about ten years of musical training on average |
The arts sections are small by design: Danse-Études admits at most 25 students and Théâtre-Études at most 18. INSA Toulouse also has an "Artiste confirmé" status, a specific admission procedure for candidates with sustained or semi-professional artistic activity who need particular support. For Musique-Études, INSA Toulouse states that the artistic file is studied once admission to an INSA is final and accepted by the candidate.
INSA Toulouse admissions tests and interviews
INSA Toulouse names no SAT, ACT, entrance exam or written test for first-year entry, and it publishes no interview for the main first-year route. Interviews appear only in the arts sections: in Musique-Études, for example, a candidate whose file is retained is called for an exchange in early September. The tests INSA Toulouse names are language tests: for the 2026 intake, new entrants took compulsory online language tests, and for GLOBALINSA and IBERINSA an eLAO result was one accepted proof of the C1 or B1 level those tracks required.
For the main first-year route, INSA Toulouse's pages describe the application (Parcoursup or the Groupe INSA international jury) and nothing else: no standardised test score, no INSA entrance exam and no interview stage. INSA Toulouse does not publish whether the Groupe INSA jury takes SAT or ACT results into account, so do not plan on them counting for or against you.
The language tests INSA Toulouse does mention come after admission. For the 2026 intake, new entrants in years 1 to 4 received an e-mail and had to take compulsory online language tests before 20 July 2026. If you are a foreign national whose mother tongue is not French, the French test result sends you to French as a Foreign Language courses (A1 to B2) or straight to a second foreign language (C1, C2); on the GLOBALINSA and IBERINSA tracks the eLAO test was one accepted proof of the C1 or B1 level required.
Interviews in the arts sections
The arts sections are for students already admitted to INSA Toulouse. Musique-Études is reserved for admitted candidates with at least 5 years of regular instrumental or vocal practice, and its file is sent by e-mail with a CV of your musical path and a motivation letter. For Danse-Études, the artistic file is examined once the student has been admitted and has confirmed joining INSA. Théâtre-Études is open to any student admitted to INSA Toulouse, with no prior theatre practice required.
If the Musique-Études file is retained, the candidate is called for an exchange in early September about the personal artistic project and the section. Danse-Études candidates whose file is retained are called for an exchange in early September, and so are Théâtre-Études candidates whose file is retained. High-level athletes on the ministerial lists have their files examined specifically by the INSA admission jury; INSA Toulouse publishes no sport test or interview.
| Route or section | Test, file or interview |
|---|---|
| Main first-year route | No test or interview published |
| GLOBALINSA track (2026 intake) | Motivation letter and detailed CV, 400 words maximum, in English |
| IBERINSA track (2026 intake) | Motivation letter and detailed CV, 400 words maximum, in Spanish or French |
| ASINSA track (2026 intake) | Motivation letter and detailed CV, 400 words maximum, in French |
| Musique-Études | CV and motivation letter, then an exchange in early September if the file is retained; at least 5 years of practice |
| Danse-Études | Exchange in early September if the file is retained |
| Théâtre-Études | Exchange in early September if the file is retained; no prior theatre practice required |
| New entrants, years 1 to 4 (2026 intake) | Compulsory online language tests before 20 July 2026 |
Files for the international tracks
For the 2026 intake, INSA Toulouse's registration site asked applicants who came through Parcoursup and wanted an international track for a short file. For GLOBALINSA, that was a motivation letter and a detailed CV covering your professional project and stays abroad, 400 words maximum, in English; for IBERINSA, a motivation letter and a detailed CV, 400 words maximum, in Spanish or French; for ASINSA, the same letter and CV, 400 words maximum, in French. Applications missing any of these elements were not examined, and the file had to be sent to the track's address before 25 July 2026. That 2026 date is the latest published and has passed; the 2027 date is not yet published.
French and English language requirements at INSA Toulouse
INSA Toulouse does not publish a minimum French level, a French admission test or an exemption for first-year applicants with a foreign diploma; its recruitment is common at Groupe INSA level. The language levels INSA Toulouse does publish are track-specific and come from its registration page for Parcoursup applicants in the 2026 intake: GLOBALINSA admission was conditional on a C1 language level, and IBERINSA asked for Spanish at minimum level B1. The 5-year engineering training offer is in French.
French matters even though INSA Toulouse sets no published admission threshold for it. In the GLOBALINSA section of its international page, INSA Toulouse states that from the 2nd year, students join the classic engineering curriculum and are taught in French. Plan to study engineering in French from your second year at the latest if you enter through GLOBALINSA.
The French placement test after enrolment
According to INSA Toulouse's languages page as of October 2026, a foreign national whose mother tongue is not French takes an online test to validate their French level. For the 2026 intake, this sat among the compulsory online language tests new entrants took after admission. It is a placement test, not an admission threshold: the result decides which language classes you take.
| Your level on the test | What INSA Toulouse does |
|---|---|
| A1, A2, B1 or B2 | You follow French as a Foreign Language courses |
| C1 or C2 | You enrol directly in a second foreign language |
For the 2026 intake, INSA Toulouse sent the access codes by 17 July 2026 and the tests had to be done before 20 July 2026. Those dates have passed; the 2027 dates are not yet published.
Language in the international tracks
- GLOBALINSA is aimed at English-speaking or bilingual students. For applicants who came through Parcoursup in the 2026 intake, INSA Toulouse's registration site made admission conditional on a C1 language level, shown by the eLAO test or another official certificate such as Cambridge; an official C1 English certificate (Cambridge etc.) was optional, where you have one. The motivation letter and CV (400 words maximum) were written in English.
- For the 2026 intake, IBERINSA asked for proof of Spanish at minimum level B1: the eLAO test, or an official language certificate such as DELE, or a bachibac certificate.
- ASINSA lets Asian students deepen their knowledge of French; for the 2026 intake its track file was a motivation letter and CV of 400 words maximum, in French.
- The NORG first year includes French as a foreign language in semester 1.
English tests for masters
At master level, INSA Toulouse names English-taught programmes: the BiotechEco master, for example, is a two-year full-time programme of 120 ECTS, entirely taught in English. INSA Toulouse's master pages state no IELTS or TOEFL minimum, so check the programme's own application requirements before you book a test.
Foreign school diplomas: French bac, foreign equivalent, IB, A-levels, matura
First-year entry at INSA Toulouse requires a French baccalauréat or a foreign equivalent: INSA Toulouse's admissions page lists entries with a general bac, with an STI2D or STL bac, and with a foreign bac. INSA Toulouse does not publish minimum grades, a conversion table or required subjects for the IB, A-levels, the Abitur, the matura or a US high school diploma.
Which diploma you hold decides your route. In the ASINSA section of INSA Toulouse's international page, holders of a French baccalauréat apply on Parcoursup and holders of a foreign secondary-school diploma apply via the Groupe INSA international jury; the IBERINSA paragraph adds that this jury assesses the applications and decides the admissions of foreign-diploma holders. INSA Toulouse's pages do not name individual diplomas such as the IB, A-levels, the Abitur or a matura, and do not say how that jury compares one foreign diploma with another.
Prerequisites of the international tracks
Each international first-year track at INSA Toulouse names its own prerequisite, and they differ in small but useful ways. ASINSA also accepts a certificate of enrolment in a scientific higher-education course abroad, and IBERINSA names the Spanish baccalaureate alongside the French one.
| Track | Prerequisite as INSA Toulouse states it |
|---|---|
| ASINSA | French baccalauréat or foreign equivalent, or a certificate of enrolment in a scientific higher-education course abroad |
| IBERINSA | French baccalauréat, Spanish baccalaureate or foreign equivalent |
| GLOBALINSA | French baccalauréat or foreign equivalent |
The only subject-specific element INSA Toulouse names is in the GLOBALINSA file for applicants who came through Parcoursup in the 2026 intake: it asked for your English grades from Terminale and your English grades in the BAC. INSA Toulouse names no required spécialités, no minimum mark in mathematics or physics, and no minimum overall grade for any diploma.
Entry with a foreign bac
According to INSA Toulouse's pages as of October 2026, the admissions page has a separate first-year entry with a foreign bac, and the English application page says you can join in the 1st year once you have obtained your baccalaureate or secondary school diploma.
INSA Toulouse does not publish a minimum score for the IB, A-level grades, an Abitur average, matura percentages or a US high school GPA. With no published bar, the file you give the Groupe INSA international jury, complete and on time, is what you control.
International first-year tracks: ASINSA, IBERINSA, GLOBALINSA and NORGINSA
INSA Toulouse runs 4 international tracks that you can join in the first year of its engineering course: ASINSA for students from Asia, IBERINSA for Spanish and French speakers, GLOBALINSA for English speakers or bilinguals, and NORGINSA, run through a correspondent in Norway. Through the international jury, the first year costs from 1 929 EUR (GLOBALINSA, European students) to 5 129 EUR (ASINSA, non-European students), as INSA Toulouse's international page states them as of October 2026, with no academic year on the page.
INSA Toulouse presents the tracks as a way to join an international group in the 1st year, with deeper cultural and linguistic openness than the classic course. In the GLOBALINSA section, INSA Toulouse adds that from the 2nd year, students join the classic engineering curriculum and are taught in French, with the option of internships or study periods abroad.
Who each track is for
- ASINSA aims to give students from Asia high-level engineering training in a French cultural context.
- IBERINSA is open to Spanish- and French-speaking students who want a multidisciplinary engineering course.
- GLOBALINSA, formerly ENG'INSA, is aimed at English-speaking or bilingual students who see themselves as engineers or managers in an international setting. INSA Toulouse's fee page still lists it under its former name, ENGINSA.
- NORGINSA has its prerequisites, procedures and fees handled directly by a correspondent in Norway. Students who continue in Norway or elsewhere obtain a Bachelor degree after three validated years.
Prerequisites, route and first-year fee
| Track | Prerequisite | Year 1 via the international jury | Via Parcoursup |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASINSA | French bac or foreign equivalent, or enrolment in a scientific higher-education course abroad | 5 129 EUR for non-European students | 630 EUR/year |
| IBERINSA | French or Spanish baccalaureate, or foreign equivalent | 2 902 EUR | 630 EUR/year |
| GLOBALINSA | French bac or foreign equivalent | 1 929 EUR European / 5 029 EUR non-European | 630 EUR/year |
| NORGINSA | Set by a correspondent in Norway | Set by a correspondent in Norway | Not stated |
The route follows your diploma. In the ASINSA section, holders of a French baccalauréat apply on Parcoursup, and holders of a foreign secondary-school diploma apply via the Groupe INSA international jury. For the 2026 intake, applicants who had come through Parcoursup sent their track file by e-mail before 25 July 2026; the 2027 date is not yet published.
Track fee and differentiated fees
The international page quotes each track fee for the first year, and INSA Toulouse's admissions page states that non-EU students must pay the differentiated fees: according to INSA Toulouse's registration page as of October 2026, 2 902 € a year for years 1 and 2 and 3 950 € a year for years 3 / 4 / 5 of the engineering course. The cost chapter sets these out in full.
The tracks sit inside a school with a large international intake: INSA Toulouse's international page reports 23.5% foreign students from 89 nationalities, without a year attached.
What you study: first year, pré-orientation and the engineering specialities
At INSA Toulouse you do not pick a speciality on day one: the course starts with a post-bac first year common to all students, continues with two years of pré-orientation in one of 4 broad domains, and ends in one of 8 specialities that lead to the engineering diploma.
INSA Toulouse describes the first year as basic scientific training common to all students. At the end of it, students choose one of the four pré-orientations for their second and third years, in 4 broad domains. The speciality comes after that.
The first year
The standard first year is weighted towards science and mathematics, with humanities as the smaller block. INSA Toulouse also runs first-year variants: the FAS first year keeps a mathematics and algorithmics block of 21 ECTS, and a separate NORG first year includes French as a foreign language in semester 1.
The eight engineering specialities
INSA Toulouse lists 8 specialities across the areas of engineering, organised in 8 speciality departments.
| Route | What INSA Toulouse publishes |
|---|---|
| Apprenticeship from year 3 | 3 years, a third of the time at INSA Toulouse and two thirds in a company |
| Specialities open to apprentices | Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Modelling and Artificial Intelligence, Automatic control and electronics |
| Final year only | All specialities on a professionalisation contract; all except GPE and GP on a 12-month apprenticeship contract |
Apprentices join the course in the 3rd year, in one of the 4 specialities that offer this format, and INSA Toulouse's international tracks start in the 1st year.
Double degrees
INSA Toulouse offers engineering students with student status only several parallel paths that can lead to a double degree. With Toulouse School of Management, selected students follow a mixed course in the 4th and 5th years and complete a master in management. Applications are made in the 3rd year, and 3 masters are open to all INSA specialities. A partnership with TBS offers management training without any additional registration fee.
English-taught options at INSA Toulouse: masters and summer schools, not the first year
INSA Toulouse has no English-taught bachelor or first year: its English page states that the 5 years training offer is in French. The English-taught programmes it names are masters, such as the BiotechEco master, entirely taught in English, and a few summer and short courses. INSA Toulouse also offers five master's programmes co-accredited with Toulouse INP for international students holding a licence (Bac+3).
If you want to study engineering in English straight after school, INSA Toulouse does not offer that. The GLOBALINSA track recruits English-speaking or bilingual students, but from the second year GLOBALINSA students join the classic curriculum and are taught in French. The courses INSA Toulouse lists in English below master level are for exchange students (non-degree mobility), not for degree students.
Masters of Science
INSA Toulouse states that its five masters are co-accredited with Toulouse INP, open with a licence (Bac+3) and reserved for international students. On its masters page, INSA Toulouse describes BiotechEco as a two-year full-time programme of 120 ECTS, entirely taught in English.
| Level | Programme | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Master | BiotechEco master, entirely taught in English | International and French university students |
| Double degree | Master in International Management with Toulouse School of Management | International and French university graduates |
| Summer and short | MINATO, SECOIAS, LCA, RenewGAS | Short-programme participants |
| First year and bachelor level | None; the 5-year training offer is in French | Exchange students (non-degree mobility) can take courses in English |
Through the double degree with Toulouse School of Management, engineering students can take the Master in International Management, entirely taught in English. The masters pages state no IELTS or TOEFL minimum; check each programme's application page.
Summer schools in English
INSA Toulouse's short programmes are where English teaching is easiest to find. MINATO is fully taught in English, and so are SECOIAS, LCA and RenewGAS. These are summer or short courses, not routes into the five-year engineering diploma.
Careers after INSA Toulouse
INSA Toulouse says that 98% of its graduates sign their contract less than 6 months after leaving the school; it gives no survey year and no salary figure with that claim. It graduates more than 600 engineers a year.
The employment figure is INSA Toulouse's own and appears without the year of the survey behind it, so read it as the school's description of its graduates' prospects rather than a dated statistic. The figure covers INSA Toulouse graduates only.
| Figure | INSA Toulouse's number |
|---|---|
| Graduates with a signed contract within 6 months | 98% |
| Engineers graduating each year | more than 600 |
| INSA Toulouse engineers in total | 20 537 |
INSA Toulouse lists the jobs its course leads to, across varied sectors: study engineer, public works engineer, energy management engineer, data engineer, data scientist and data analyst, among others. The eight specialities and the apprenticeship route shape which of these you reach.
Career support during the course
- An individualised professional path: personal support over the 5 years to build your professional project.
- Apprenticeship, for those who take it: 3 years, with a third of the time at INSA Toulouse and two thirds in a company.
- The alumni network: INSA Toulouse's open day includes a stand on the engineering profession and job outlets with INSA Alumni Toulouse (IAT).
For an international student, the most useful point is the combination: a French engineering diploma, a course taught in French, and the option of an apprenticeship during the course. INSA Toulouse publishes no separate employment figure for international graduates.
Cost of study at INSA Toulouse: tuition, differentiated fees and international-track fees
For 2026-2027, the latest published year (2027-2028 is not yet published), INSA Toulouse charges French and EU engineering students 630 € a year. Non-EU students pay differentiated fees of 2 902 € a year for years 1 and 2 and 3 950 € a year for years 3 / 4 / 5, according to INSA Toulouse's registration page as of October 2026, which puts no academic year on these two amounts.
The French and EU rate is labelled "Tarif 2026-2027" on INSA Toulouse's registration site: 630 € for the engineering course and 255 € for a master. Non-EU students pay more because French law makes non-EU students subject to differentiated fees. INSA Toulouse's English page gives the same non-EU amounts: €2,902 per year for the 1st and 2nd years and €3,950 per year for the 3rd, 4th and 5th years of the engineering curriculum.
Non-EU students who pay the national fees
According to INSA Toulouse's admissions page as of October 2026, some non-EU students are not subject to the differentiated fees and pay the national amounts instead: 630 € for years 1 to 5 of the engineering course and 255 € for years 1 and 2 of a master. INSA Toulouse lists them as follows.
- Quebec nationals.
- Students tax-domiciled or attached to a tax household in France for more than two years; the proof is the last 2 tax notices (the 2025 notice on 2024 income and the 2026 notice on 2025 income).
- Students with refugee status or subsidiary protection, or whose parent or legal representative has it.
- Non-EU French government scholarship holders are subject to the fees but fully exempt: no registration fee to pay.
International-track fees in the first year
| Track | Via the international jury | Via Parcoursup |
|---|---|---|
| ASINSA | 5 129 EUR for non-European students | 630 EUR/year |
| IBERINSA | 2 902 EUR | 630 EUR/year |
| GLOBALINSA | 1 929 EUR European / 5 029 EUR non-European | 630 EUR/year |
| NORGINSA | Set by a correspondent in Norway | Set by a correspondent in Norway |
INSA Toulouse quotes these track fees for the first year, and its admissions page states that non-EU students must pay the differentiated fees. For NORGINSA, fees are handled directly by a correspondent in Norway.
CVEC, instalments and other costs
According to INSA Toulouse's admissions page as of October 2026, tuition can be paid in 3 instalments, with the first payment due at online registration, and specific fees may apply on top of tuition. For the 2026 intake, students in initial training and apprentices paid the CVEC, the national student life contribution, as step 1 of registration; for the 2026 rentrée it was 105 €. Grant holders with a conditional grant notice get the CVEC certificate without paying.
For living costs, INSA Toulouse advises its students to plan a monthly budget of 800 € to 900 € to live and study in Toulouse in good conditions.
Scholarships and financial aid at INSA Toulouse
INSA Toulouse names no scholarship reserved for international first-year applicants. The fee exemption that matters to non-EU students from the start is for French government scholarship holders: according to INSA Toulouse's admissions page as of October 2026, they are subject to the differentiated fees but fully exempt, with no registration fee to pay.
For the Eiffel excellence scholarship, INSA Toulouse states that mastères spécialisés are not eligible. If you plan to enter INSA Toulouse's engineering course in the first year, budget for the full fee of your status.
CROUS needs-based grants
For the CROUS needs-based grants, INSA Toulouse's page set the deadline for the student social file (DSE) before 31 May 2026 for 2026-2027; that date has passed, and INSA Toulouse has not yet published the next one. Grant holders who had received their conditional grant notice got the CVEC certificate without paying.

INSA Toulouse's campus has 1 662 housing units, run by two providers: the R1 residence with 247 units, where 2026-2027 rents start at 227,57 € a month for a single room, and Promologis with 1 415 units at 380€ to 460€ a month (the page gives no academic year). A room is not guaranteed: INSA Toulouse states that the search for your housing is your responsibility.
INSA Toulouse is direct about it on its registration site: the search for your housing is your responsibility. Its international FAQ adds that only a small number of rooms are concerned, so INSA Toulouse cannot guarantee access to a CROUS residence.
The R1 residence
The R1 residence sits inside the INSA Toulouse campus, with 247 units over 6 floors: 154 rooms, 26 shared rooms, 42 studios, 12 accessible units and 13 guest rooms. At the start of the academic year, R1 only takes students admitted to the INSA Toulouse engineering cycle, with priority for new entrants. R1 rents include rent and charges, and the lease runs for 12 months per full academic year from 1 September. For the 2026-2027 year, INSA Toulouse's management decided admissions after the housing commission of 25 June 2026; that date has passed, and the 2027 date is not yet published. Apply as soon as you are admitted.
Promologis, CROUS and the private market
Promologis has 7 residences, 6 in the centre of the INSA Toulouse campus and 1 a 10-minute walk away, with units allocated first to students enrolled at INSA Toulouse. Rents range from 380€ to 460€ a month, all charges included.

Who is INSA Toulouse for? Summary and next steps
INSA Toulouse suits applicants from abroad who want a five-year public engineering course and are ready to study it in French: even on the English-speaking GLOBALINSA track, from the 2nd year students follow the classic curriculum in French. It does not suit you if you want an English-taught bachelor. Your next dated steps for 2027 entry are the Groupe INSA first-year live sessions on 20 January and 2 March, and INSA Toulouse's open day on Saturday 6 February 2027.
Who INSA Toulouse suits, and who it does not
- Suits: students with a foreign school-leaving diploma who are happy to be selected through a common process: in the track sections of INSA Toulouse's international page, foreign-diploma holders apply via the Groupe INSA international jury, not to Toulouse alone.
- Suits: English speakers who can reach the level GLOBALINSA set for Parcoursup applicants in the 2026 intake (admission conditional on a C1 language level) and then switch to French.
- Plan the budget: non-EU students pay differentiated fees of 2 902 € a year for years 1 and 2 and 3 950 € a year for years 3 / 4 / 5, according to INSA Toulouse's registration page as of October 2026, with no academic year on the page.
- Does not suit: anyone who needs a full engineering degree in English from the first year: the 5-year training offer is in French, and the English-taught degrees INSA Toulouse names, such as the BiotechEco master, are at master level.
Next steps for entry in 2027
After admission, expect the steps INSA Toulouse published for the 2026 intake: the CVEC, online registration in July, compulsory online language tests (with a French test if you are a foreign national whose mother tongue is not French), and a housing application as early as possible. The 2027 calendar for those steps is not yet published.
Alternatives within the same application
The application you make for INSA Toulouse is shared with the rest of the Groupe INSA. INSA Toulouse states that its recruitment covers 7 INSA schools in France: Centre Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, Lyon, Rennes, Rouen-Normandie, Strasbourg and Toulouse, plus 6 partner INSA schools such as ENSIL-ENSCI Limoges, ISIS Castres and ESITech Rouen. The fees and figures on this page are INSA Toulouse's only, so check each school's own pages before you rank it.
