Queen Mary admission at a glance for 2027 entry
Queen Mary takes undergraduate applications for September 2027 through UCAS, with the equal-consideration deadline on 13 January 2027; the typical offer is AAA at A-level for Economics, AAA for Computer Science and AAA for Business Management, and A*AA for Law.
Overseas tuition for these four programmes is £30,950 for Economics, £34,750 for Computer Science, £30,950 for Business Management and £30,950 for Law, as listed on the course pages for 2027 entry. English requirements follow a band system tied to the academic department, and Law sets its own, higher scores.
Queen Mary is one of the colleges of the University of London, based on the Mile End campus in east London. Offers are a published gate, not the level of students who are admitted, and the university can still decide on the whole profile.
How to apply to Queen Mary from abroad
Applications for undergraduate programmes are made online through UCAS, and you can choose up to five courses in one application.
Each course has its own UCAS course code on its course page, and the university asks you to use the correct code because it may not be possible to change the choice later. There are more flexible deadlines for international applicants, but early application is recommended for popular courses.
If you hold a qualification the entry page does not list, the university asks you to contact its Admissions Office. The final decision on the equivalency of overseas qualifications is made by the Admissions Office, so treat the country tables below as a guide.
Queen Mary application deadlines for 2027 entry
For most courses the UCAS deadline for equal consideration is 13 January 2027, and applications after it are still considered for the majority of courses.
The School of Law is stricter: it recommends that applicants adhere to the 31 January UCAS deadline for Home students, and may close UCAS applications at any point on or after it. Plan Law applications for well before that date.
Medicine and dentistry run on an earlier cycle. The key-dates page still shows the previous cycle, which listed 15 October 2025 as the UCAS deadline for medicine and dental courses, so check the October date for 2027 entry on UCAS before you plan. Courses in this report start in September 2027.
Queen Mary A-level offers by programme
The typical A-level offer is Grades AAA for Economics, AAA for Computer Science, AAA for Business Management and A*AA for Law, as listed for 2027 entry.
| Programme | Typical offer | Subject requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Economics (BSc Econ) | AAA | A-level Mathematics required |
| Computer Science (BSc) | AAA | one of Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics |
| Business Management (BSc) | AAA | No subject listed in the offer |
| Law (LLB) | A*AA | No subject listed in the offer |
Queen Mary does not take AS grades into consideration, and most courses do not accept A-levels in General Studies or Critical Thinking. For science A-levels taken with an English awarding body, the university normally asks for a Pass in the practical endorsement.
The Computer Science MSci route asks for more: Grades A*AA at A-Level, including one of Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics. Business Management adds a GCSE rule: both GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4 or an acceptable equivalent, and the course page adds that the university does not make offers purely on the basis of meeting grade requirements.
IB Diploma requirements at Queen Mary
Offers for the IB Diploma normally state an overall score out of 45 and grades in three Higher Level subjects; all four programmes here ask for a minimum of 36 points overall, including 6,6,6 from three Higher Level subjects.
| Programme | Overall | Higher Level and subject rule |
|---|---|---|
| Economics | 36 points | Minimum 6 in Standard Level Mathematics if not taken at Higher Level |
| Computer Science | 36 points | Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics at Higher Level |
| Business Management | 36 points | Minimum 4 in Standard Level Mathematics |
| Law | 36 points | 6,6,6 from three Higher Level subjects |
For Economics, Mathematics: Applications and interpretation or Analysis and approaches counts at Standard or Higher Level, and Maths Studies is excluded.
Qualifications from Italy, France and Poland
Queen Mary lists the Diploma di Esame di Stato, the Baccalauréat and the Polish Certificate of Maturity as qualifications it considers, with grade guidance for France and Poland.
Italy. The Esame di Stato is accepted for all undergraduate programmes delivered in London except MBBS and BDS. The Italy page also gives an equivalency table for A-levels and the Diploma di Esame di Stato, and actual offers may differ slightly.
France. Students usually need a minimum mark of between 13/20 and 15/20 overall, and schools will usually request grades in relevant subjects: A = 14/20, B = 13/20. Speciality subjects taken only in Year 12 will not be considered.
Poland. Students usually need grades of at least 70% in three Extended Level subjects; the university publishes an equivalency table for A-levels and the Polish Certificate of Maturity that scales the percentage with the offer.
These pages cover applicants from the countries named; the exact requirement depends on the course, so read the programme chapters below next.
Other qualifications: European Baccalaureate, Scottish Highers, US and others
For the European Baccalaureate the university will typically ask for an overall percentage plus any subject-specific requirements, and for Scottish qualifications it generally requires one Advanced Higher alongside four Highers.
The Law course page says that a wide range of European and international qualifications is accepted in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate and BTEC. The entry page does not list the US high school diploma with AP exams, so if your qualification is not listed, contact the Admissions Office before you apply.
The School of Law adds a rule on Welsh qualifications: it will not include the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate in offer conditions.
Economics at Queen Mary: entry and fees
The BSc (Econ) Economics offer is Grades AAA at A-Level, which must include A-Level Mathematics, or 36 points in the IB Diploma with 6,6,6 from three Higher Level subjects.
Overseas tuition is £30,950 on the course page for 2027 entry, against a home fee of £10,050 on the same page. English follows the School of Economics and Finance band: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component.
Variants with a year in industry, a year abroad or an integrated foundation year are listed as separate UCAS routes on the course page; their fees and offers differ, so use the code of the route you want.
Computer Science at Queen Mary: entry and fees
The BSc Computer Science offer is Grades AAA at A-Level, including one of Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics, or 6,6,6 at Higher Level including Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics in the IB Diploma.
Overseas tuition is £34,750 for 2027 entry, the highest of the four programmes here. Computer Science sits in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, whose undergraduate band asks for IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component.
The MSci route is priced the same overseas and asks for A*AA at A-level.
Business Management at Queen Mary: entry and fees
The BSc Business Management offer is Grades AAA at A-Level or 6,6,6 at Higher Level with a minimum of 4 in Standard Level Mathematics in the IB Diploma.
Overseas tuition is £30,950 for 2027 entry. The School of Business and Management sets IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component. GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4 or an acceptable equivalent are required, and meeting the grades does not by itself earn an offer.
Law (LLB) at Queen Mary: entry and fees
The LLB Law offer is Grades A*AA at A-Level or 36 points in the IB Diploma with 6,6,6 from three Higher Level subjects, and the course carries an enhanced GCSE requirement: six GCSEs at grades 777666 or AAABBB.
The page also lists an enhanced contextual offer of ABB. Overseas tuition is £30,950 for 2027 entry. Law applicants should also note the 31 January UCAS deadline advice.

Fees for international students vary depending on the course, and Queen Mary may raise international fees by a standard amount each year, with the 2026-27 increase capped at no more than 10%. Treat the 2027 course-page figures as the latest published rather than a guarantee for later years of the degree.
Fee status for EU, EEA and Swiss applicants
For fee liability of EU, EEA and Swiss nationals the university points to its Admissions fee status assessment pages (the page text itself still refers to the previous intake), so do not assume the home fee applies to you.
The old Brexit notes on the country pages concern earlier intakes. They do not set the fee for a 2027 start, so rely on the fee status assessment and the fee shown on the course page.
Medicine and dentistry at Queen Mary
Medicine and Dentistry applicants sit the UCAT and apply on the earlier October cycle; the Esame di Stato is not accepted for the London MBBS or BDS.
The Italy page states the Esame di Stato is accepted for all undergraduate programmes delivered in London except MBBS and BDS. This report does not cover medicine entry rules in detail, so read the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry admissions pages directly.
