University of Twente admission at a glance
To start a bachelor at the University of Twente in September 2027, you apply through Studielink, complete your file in Osiris and need a diploma equivalent to Dutch vwo; the University of Twente deadlines page sets the completed-application date for the September intake before 1 May for non-EEA nationals and before 1 July for EEA nationals.
The University of Twente application starts in Studielink: "Your application is handled via online platform Studielink." After that, the University of Twente sends you login details by email and you continue in Osiris, where you upload your documents. Your application counts as complete only when all required uploads are in Osiris by the deadline for your nationality group.
The University of Twente fee depends on nationality: an EU/EEA national "will most likely pay the statutory tuition fee", while a non-EU/EEA national "will usually pay the institutional tuition fee". The chapter on tuition lists which bachelors sit in the lower and which in the higher institutional rate.
The University of Twente diploma pages name the cycle: "These admission requirements are valid for the September 2027 intake." The central deadlines page gives standing dates for the September intake without a year, so 1 May and 1 July are the dates that page gives, not dates it confirms for 2027. Two programme pages do give dated 2027 deadlines: the Psychology English track and Technical Medicine.
Rules that catch applicants out
- Psychology, English track: apply via Studielink by 15 January 2027; the programme page says later applications are not accepted.
- Technical Medicine (Technische Geneeskunde, Dutch-taught): for a September 2027 start, applications opened in October 2026 and close on 15 January 2027, as the Technische Geneeskunde page gives it.
- Mandatory intake activities bind: if you did not take part, or only partly, you cannot start your studies, even if you were conditionally admitted.
- Every applicant holding a non-Dutch educational degree pays an application fee of €100; the University of Twente states that refunds are never issued, even if the application is rejected.
- Non-EEA nationals must complete any deficiency requirements in Osiris before 15 June.
- After the conditional admission letter, the University of Twente often asks for certified copies of your final documents to finalise enrolment.
| Topic | What the University of Twente publishes |
|---|---|
| Route | Studielink first, then Osiris for documents |
| Deadline, non-EEA nationals | Completed application before 1 May (standing date for the September intake) |
| Deadline, EEA nationals (non-Dutch) | Completed application before 1 July (standing date for the September intake) |
| Teaching language | Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and most other programmes on the overview are 100% English-taught; Technical Medicine is 100% Dutch-taught, Biomedical Technology and Health Sciences 80% Dutch-taught |
| Diploma bar | Equivalent to Dutch vwo, with VWO Mathematics A for social sciences programmes and VWO Mathematics B for technical programmes |
| Tuition | Statutory or institutional rate by nationality; the institutional rate is lower or higher by programme |
University of Twente rankings, facts and reputation
The University of Twente reports on its own rankings page that it stands at 223 in the QS ranking for 2027; these are the University of Twente's own statements, not positions taken from the ranking publishers.
Read every position in this chapter as a claim the University of Twente makes about itself. The University of Twente rankings page names the edition and the field for each ranking, and the figures below repeat that page word for word.
On its rankings page the University of Twente says its scores for research quality (72,3), industry engagement (98.6) and international outlook (91,2) stand out as particularly high.
| Ranking | Edition | Position the University of Twente reports |
|---|---|---|
| QS World University Rankings | 2027 | 223 of over 1,500 |
| QS Sustainability | 2026 | 146 of approximately 2,000 |
| ARWU (Shanghai) | 2026 | 501-600 |
| CWTS Leiden (PP top 10% indicator) | 2025 | 281 of 1,594 |
| EngiRank (European engineering institutes) | 2025 | 17 of 300 |
The editions differ: the QS figure is for 2027, the QS Sustainability and ARWU figures for 2026, and the Leiden and EngiRank figures for 2025. Compare like with like when you set the University of Twente next to another university.
Students and international profile
The University of Twente does not publish a total student count on its bachelor pages. What the University of Twente says is that it offers "a wide range of English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes" with "over a third of our students coming from abroad", without naming the year that share refers to.
Campus and profile
The University of Twente describes itself as "a leading, technology-driven university with a personal atmosphere" and calls its technological approach to societal issues High Tech Human Touch. The campus in Enschede is, in the University of Twente's words, "the only all-in-one campus in the Netherlands", with over 100 student associations, where study, sports, culture and living come together.
The University of Twente also calls itself "one of the most entrepreneurial universities in Europe" and says it helps students turn ideas into reality. That is a self-description, not a ranking, and the University of Twente gives no source or year for it.
University of Twente acceptance rate and places
The University of Twente does not publish an acceptance rate, application numbers or admit numbers for its bachelor programmes; its admission activities page lists two numerus fixus bachelors: Psychology (English track) with 250 places and Technical Medicine with 150 places for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Outside these two numerus fixus programmes, admission turns on whether your diploma and subjects meet the requirements; some programmes also make matching compulsory. The University of Twente explains why caps exist at all: in certain programmes "more applications are received than there are places available", because study places are limited or because a sector of the labour market risks a surplus.
What the University of Twente publishes instead of an admit rate
The University of Twente does not publish how many people applied to a bachelor programme or how many were admitted, for international applicants or in total. Each programme's Study in Numbers page gives the number of first-year students, which the University of Twente presents as an indicator of the programme's scale. A first-year count tells you how big a cohort is; it is not an acceptance rate, and you cannot work one out from it.
Numerus fixus places in Psychology and Technical Medicine
The Psychology English track "has a numerus fixus, which means there are 250 places available and you will need to take part in a selection procedure". Your result in that procedure gives you a ranking number, and ranking numbers 1 to 250 receive an offer.
Technical Medicine, a Dutch-taught bachelor, has 150 places for 2027-2028. The Technische Geneeskunde page states that the places are allocated by unweighted lottery ("ongewogen loting"), and for the 2027-2028 intake the programme does not use grades. The chapter on selection explains both procedures step by step.
What admissible means at the University of Twente
The University of Twente reviews "all applications individually due to their distinctive nature", and the only way to find out whether you are admissible is to apply through Studielink and upload all required documents in Osiris.
A University of Twente conditional admission means "that you do not yet fully comply with all the requirements for the study programme of your choice". In a numerus fixus programme, the University of Twente adds that enrolment is final only once you have completed the numerus fixus procedure and met all other admission requirements.
How the University of Twente selects: numerus fixus, selection and matching
The University of Twente uses three procedures, matching, compulsory matching and numerus fixus; only the Psychology English track (250 places) and Technical Medicine (150 places for 2027-2028) select, Psychology through a matching assignment worth 20% and two online tests worth 40% each in 2027, Technical Medicine through an unweighted lottery.
The University of Twente admission activities page names the three procedures: "matching, compulsory matching and numerus fixus". Every applicant who applies before the deadlines is entitled to a study choice check. For some programmes that check is compulsory, and for two programmes the number of places is fixed.
| Procedure | Programmes | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Matching (study choice check) | Every applicant who applied before the deadlines is entitled to one; it differs per programme | Whether you and the programme are a match |
| Compulsory matching | Advanced Technology, Biomedical Technology, Mechanical Engineering (Enschede and Amsterdam), Psychology (Dutch track), Technical Computer Science | You must take part fully to secure your place |
| Numerus fixus, selection | Psychology (English track), 250 places | Your ranking number from the selection |
| Numerus fixus, lottery | Technical Medicine (Technische Geneeskunde, Dutch-taught), 150 places for 2027-2028 | Your ranking number from an unweighted lottery |
Psychology English track selection for September 2027
Once you have applied on time and received (conditional) admission, the Psychology programme invites you to the selection procedure in the first week of February; the selection period runs February - March 2027. The procedure is part of the "Enrolment Regulation UT 2027-2028".
The Psychology tests can be taken between 9:00 and 21:00 CET and take about 1,5 hours in total. You may take part in the Psychology selection up to three times, and you can apply for at most two numerus fixus programmes per academic year in the Netherlands.
Technical Medicine: lottery, not grades
The Technische Geneeskunde pages state that for the 2027-2028 intake the programme uses an unweighted lottery ("ongewogen loting") and does not use grades. The lottery period runs 15 January to 15 April 2027. A ranking number within the 1-150 available places brings an offer, which you have two weeks to accept.
Everyone taking part in the Technical Medicine lottery is expected to attend one trial day, which is not assessed; the page lists 4 February, 9 February, 2 March and 11 March, without a year. You may take part in the Technical Medicine lottery at most three times. The University of Twente central deadlines page calls the same programme's procedure a "selection procedure", while the Technische Geneeskunde page describes it as a lottery.
Compulsory matching and whether it binds
The University of Twente compulsory study choice check takes place, for instance, "via an online questionnaire or an interview with a study adviser", and each bachelor organises it differently; Advanced Technology also asks for a motivation letter. To secure your place you must fully take part and complete the activities.
For the Psychology Dutch track, the advice you receive after the Matching event is non-binding: you decide whether to continue. Taking part is still mandatory, and if you do not complete the activities on time your application is cancelled.
The general University of Twente rule for every mandatory intake activity is strict: "If you did not participate or only partially participated, you cannot start your studies, regardless of whether you were conditionally admitted."
University of Twente admission tests: SAT, AP, selection tests and deficiency exams
The University of Twente publishes no SAT, ACT or general admission test requirement for its bachelors; US diploma holders are assessed on at least 4 AP CollegeBoard exams scored 3, 4, or 5, and the only bachelor with its own tests is the Psychology English track, with two online tests on 12 March 2027.
The SAT has one role at the University of Twente: "if you have taken the SAT exam, make sure to upload the results as well." The University of Twente states this on its admission page for applicants on the US route and publishes no minimum SAT or ACT score.
| Test | Who takes it | Role |
|---|---|---|
| SAT / ACT | Applicants who have already taken the SAT | Upload the results; no minimum score published |
| AP CollegeBoard exams | US diploma holders | At least 4 exams, each scored 3, 4, or 5, to be considered possibly admissible |
| Psychology test and Methods & Statistics test | Psychology English track applicants | 40% each of the selection result, on 12 March 2027 |
| CCVX, James Boswell-Bèta, Dutch Staatsexamen | Applicants missing Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry | Certificate that clears a subject deficiency |
AP exams for US diploma holders
The University of Twente AP page requires "a minimum of 4 AP CollegeBoard exams, each with a score of 3, 4, or 5" to be considered possibly admissible. Some programmes require specific AP subjects, and for Advanced Technology the AP page states that AP Calculus BC is required to meet the mathematics requirement. When you do not have enough AP exams for direct admission, the national expertise centre and/or the programme committee reviews your application.
For the September 2027 intake the University of Twente AP page lists these subject requirements per programme, under the programme names it uses:
- Mathematics, "AP Calculus BC is required": Advanced Technology, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Business Information Technology, Chemical Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Computer Science, Technical Medicine.
- Mathematics, three options: AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB (subscore) or AP Calculus BC: Communication Science, Creative Technology, Health Sciences, Psychology, Public Administration.
- Physics, as the AP page words it: "There are three options to meet the physics requirement: AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based and AP Physics 2: Algebra-Based, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Physics C: Mechanics": Advanced Technology, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Medicine.
- Chemistry, "AP Chemistry is required": Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Science & Engineering, Technical Medicine.
- Biology, "AP Biology is required": Technical Medicine.
Selection tests in Psychology and Technical Medicine
The Psychology English track selection for September 2027 combines an online matching assignment (20%, submitted before 1 March 2027) with an online Psychology test (40%) and an online Methods & Statistics test (40%). For the Psychology test you read study materials and complete an online open-book test of your skill in learning the scientific psychology literature.
Technical Medicine has no admission test. For the 2027-2028 intake the Technische Geneeskunde programme uses an unweighted lottery and does not use grades; extracurricular activities and work experience are not weighed either.
Deficiency exams for a missing subject
If your diploma lacks the required grade, subject or level, the University of Twente accepts certificates for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from CCVX, James Boswell-Bèta (online and physical tests) or the Dutch Staatsexamen. The University of Twente does not accept the OMPT and Korteweg-de Vries tests. Additional subject tests must be passed with a positive result before the deficiency deadline.
The University of Twente deadlines page sets the deficiency deadline for the September intake before 15 June for non-EEA nationals and before 15 August for EEA nationals (non-Dutch), as standing dates.
Colloquium Doctum for applicants aged 21 or over
The University of Twente Colloquium Doctum is for students aged 21 or over who do not have Dutch VWO-level qualifications; you must be at least 21 on 1 September of the academic year you wish to start. Applications open on 1 October via Studielink, and any alternative exams must be completed before the deficiency deadline of your programme. The University of Twente page currently says the Colloquium Doctum accepts certificates from CCVX, James Boswell, or the Official State Examination.
University of Twente admissions step by step: Studielink, Osiris and the €100 fee
You apply to a University of Twente bachelor in Studielink, from October for the following September intake, then upload your documents in Osiris and pay an application fee of €100 if you hold a non-Dutch educational degree; the University of Twente reviews the application only once the fee has arrived and never refunds it.
The University of Twente has one intake for bachelors: "You can apply from October onwards for the upcoming September intake (no February intake available)." For a September 2027 start, that window opened in October 2026. You can apply before you have taken your final exams, but admission is only possible if you pass them.
Studielink and Osiris
The University of Twente application starts in Studielink: "Your application is handled via online platform Studielink." You then continue in Osiris with the login credentials sent to you by email. The University of Twente treats each programme as a separate application: "If you wish to apply for two programmes, you must complete the steps twice."
Documents to upload
The University of Twente says the documents you upload depend on your nationality, your country of prior education, your personal circumstances and the programme. The standard set is:
- the personal details page(s) of your passport, or the front and back of your national ID card;
- your diploma certificate(s) and academic records, in the original language with an official sworn translation in English or Dutch (no translation needed for English, Dutch or German originals);
- your CV in English;
- proof of English, as set out in the language chapter;
- a copy of your current residence permit (front and back), if you hold one, together with the passport of your nationality.
After your conditional admission letter, the University of Twente often requests certified copies of your final documents to finalise enrolment. In some cases the University of Twente verifies documents online, and then certified photocopies are not necessary.
The €100 application fee
The University of Twente charges €100 to "all students holding a non-Dutch educational degree", and students with international diplomas pay it regardless of where the diploma was obtained. If you apply to more than one programme, you pay the fee once. The University of Twente does not offer application fee waivers.
Your University of Twente application is reviewed only once the fee has been paid and received. Refunds are never issued, even if your application is rejected, or if you pay the fee, never submit the application and it is cancelled after the deadline.
Decision and next steps
The University of Twente aims to tell you whether you are admissible within two weeks after your application. The outcome is either conditionally accepted, meaning you do not yet meet all requirements, or rejected, when you do not meet the admission requirements of the programme. After conditional admission you arrange tuition payment, a visa if necessary and housing; the Kick-In is the introduction period for all new students at the University of Twente.
Deferral and intakes
The University of Twente has no February intake for bachelors. If you wish to defer your bachelor's application, you pay the application fee again.
University of Twente application deadlines for September 2027
For most University of Twente bachelors, the deadlines page sets a completed Osiris application for the September intake before 1 May for non-EEA (visa) nationals, before 1 July for EEA nationals and before 1 August for Dutch nationals; the Psychology English track and Technical Medicine close earlier, on 15 January 2027 for a September 2027 start.
The University of Twente central deadlines page gives standing dates for the September intake and does not name a year. Read 1 May, 1 July and 1 August as the dates that page gives. The two programme pages that name 2027 are Psychology (English track) and Technical Medicine.
| Deadline | Non-EEA (visa) nationals | EEA nationals (non-Dutch) | Dutch nationals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Completed application in Osiris | before 1 May | before 1 July | before 1 August |
| Deficiency requirements (if applicable) | before 15 June | before 15 August | Not set out in this table |
| Proof of graduation | 1 July, unless your conditional admission letter says otherwise | Not set out in this table | Not set out in this table |
| Final certified photocopies | before 1 September | Not set out in this table | Not set out in this table |
For non-EEA nationals, the University of Twente adds that the visa and residence permit procedure only starts after admission, so those deadlines matter too. You can apply while still in your last year of school, but you must graduate in the school year before the academic year starts.
Programmes with deviating deadlines
Some University of Twente bachelors have deviating deadlines "due to decentralised selection, mandatory matching, or selection activities", and these deadlines apply to all students, regardless of nationality or educational background.
- Psychology (English track): apply via Studielink by 15 January 2027; with an international diploma the programme strongly recommends completing the process by 30 November 2026. Deficiencies are due before 1 May (non-EEA) or before 1 July (EEA).
- Technical Medicine (Dutch-taught): for September 2027, application via Studielink opened in October 2026 and runs until 15 January 2027; deficiencies are due before 15 May (non-EEA) or before 15 July (EEA).
- Psychology (Dutch track), Mechanical Engineering (Enschede and Amsterdam) and Technical Computer Science: completed application before 1 May for every nationality; Mechanical Engineering does not admit students who apply after 1 May.
- Advanced Technology: 1 May for non-EEA nationals and 1 July for EEA or Dutch nationals.
- Biomedical Technology: 1 May non-EEA, 1 July EEA, 1 August Dutch nationals.
In the Psychology English track, non-EEA applicants for whom the University of Twente must submit an application to the IND have to be eligible for a place before 1 June to meet the visa deadlines; without an offer by then, the application is cancelled.
Which nationality counts
At the University of Twente, nationality sets the deadline, not a residence permit: with Mexican nationality and a Dutch residence permit, you follow the deadline for Mexican nationals. If you have several nationalities, use the most beneficial one as your first nationality to determine both the deadline and the tuition fee.
When applications open
University of Twente applications open in October for the following September intake, and there is no February intake. The Dutch application page for the 2026 cycle stated that Dutch nationals could apply until 1 August 2026 and strongly advised doing so before 1 May; that deadline has passed and belongs to the 2026 intake, not to September 2027.
University of Twente English and Dutch language requirements
Bachelor applicants to the University of Twente with an international diploma need IELTS Academic of at least 6.0 (at least 5.5 per section), TOEFL iBT of 90 with 21 per section (certificates from before January 2026) or an equivalent listed test, unless an exemption for their diploma route applies.
The University of Twente accepts only the internationally recognised tests on its list: "Without a valid certificate, your application cannot be processed." Most certificates may be no older than two years, and the University of Twente asks that your English certificate stays valid for at least one month after you submit your application in Osiris.
| Test | Overall minimum | Section minimum |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 | 5.5 on each section |
| TOEFL iBT, certificate from before January 2026 | 90 | 21 on each section |
| TOEFL iBT, certificate from after January 2026 | 4,5 | 4,5 reading, listening, writing; 4 speaking |
| Cambridge C1 Advanced | 169 | 162 on each section |
| Cambridge C2 Proficiency (grade A, B or C) | 169 | 162 on each section |
| PTE Academic (standard test) | 61 | 56 on each section |
| LanguageCert Academic (in-person) | 65 | 60 Reading and Listening, 65 Speaking and Writing |
The University of Twente does not accept the IELTS Online test, IELTS Indicator, IELTS One Skill Retake or IELTS General Training, the TOEFL MyBest scores, PTE Core or PTE Academic Online. By exception, the TOEFL iBT (Special) Home Edition is accepted, and the University of Twente states that this exception is valid only for the September 2027 intake.
Who is exempt from the English test
Being a native speaker is not enough at the University of Twente: "If you are a native English speaker and/or you have (fully) completed your education in English, you still have to meet the specific English language requirement." Each exemption below applies only to its own route:
- English as an exam subject up until the final year, plus the last three years of secondary education in Australia, Canada (English-speaking part), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States.
- English as an exam subject in a country on the University of Twente country list; the exemption depends on your country.
- A three-year bachelor's degree obtained in person in a country the University of Twente exempts.
- IB Diploma: English as the instruction language plus an English exam subject, for example English A at grade ≥ 4, English B SL at grade ≥ 6 or English B HL at grade ≥ 5.
- UK route: English at (I)GCSE or GCE with an A, B or C, only when you have GCE A2-level certificates combined with GCSE certificates.
- European Baccalaureate: English L1 or L2 as an exam subject.
- German Abitur: English followed up to the final year and taken as an Abiturprüfungsfach.
A secondary diploma from Poland, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria or Slovenia gives no exemption: the University of Twente states for each of these countries that it "is not one of the countries with a language exemption". With one of these national diplomas, you need one of the listed tests unless another route above, such as the IB, covers you.
Dutch for the Dutch-taught bachelors
The University of Twente Dutch-taught bachelors require Dutch in addition to English. International students need Staatsexamen NT2 program I (B1-B2) for Biomedical Technology, and NT2 program II (B2-C1) for Health Sciences and Technical Medicine. The University of Twente also lists the CNaVT at Educatief Startbekwaam (B2) or Educatief Professioneel (C1), Dutch in a secondary exam equivalent to the Dutch VWO exam, and for IB holders Dutch A at grade ≥ 4.
The University of Twente Psychology bachelor has an English-taught and a Dutch-taught track. The English track needs no Dutch proof, but both tracks have the English requirement. A Dutch VWO diploma meets the language requirements.
By when the language requirement must be met
If you have a deficiency in English or Dutch, the University of Twente lets you complete the language test later, as soon as possible and before the final deficiency deadline of your programme and nationality group, for example before 15 June for non-EEA nationals in a standard programme.
English exemptions by country
The country list says that a secondary diploma from these countries gives no English exemption: Albania, Belgium (Wallonia), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Caribbean (CAPE), China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, India (Indian School Certificate), India (Senior School Certificate), Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Malaysia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, Türkiye, Vietnam.
For these systems the country list names the condition under which English is exempted:
- Austria: English is followed as an exam subject on the national exam.
- Belgium: English is followed as an exam subject on ASO.
- Denmark: English Level A/B is followed as an exam subject and obtained on hf or stx.
- Finland: When English is followed as a national Matura exam subject on the national exam, students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- France: OIB/BFI version might be exempted.
- Hungary: When English is followed as an Advanced Level exam subject on the national exam, students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Ireland: when English is followed as an exam subject.
- Lithuania: When English is followed as a national state exam subject and obtained on level C1 or B2 (≥ 36%) on the national exam students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Luxembourg: When English is followed as an exam subject, students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Norway: When English is followed as English as a common subject, English 1 and English 2 with grade of at least 2, students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Romania: When English is followed as a national exam subject in the final year students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Scotland: When English is followed as a Higher or Advanced Higher National Course (and is obtained with an A, B, C, or D score) students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Slovakia: When English is followed as a national state exam subject and obtained on level C1 or B2 students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Suriname: When English is followed as an exam subject on the national exam (VWO) students are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Sweden: Students are exempted when English is followed at 5, 6 and 7.
Entry requirements at the University of Twente: IB, A-levels, AP, European Baccalaureate, Abitur
For the September 2027 intake, the University of Twente asks for a secondary diploma equivalent to Dutch vwo, with no grade offers: a full IB Diploma with, in general, no minimum IB grade, or at least 3 (I)GCSEs and 3 full GCE A2-Levels at A, B or C, or a US diploma with at least 4 AP exams scored 3, 4, or 5, plus the subjects your programme requires.
The University of Twente diploma pages state: "These admission requirements are valid for the September 2027 intake. The admission requirements can change per intake moment." The University of Twente announces the requirements in October for the following September intake, so the rules below are the current ones for a September 2027 start.
The University of Twente reviews every application individually, and the only way to learn whether your diploma makes you admissible is an official application in Studielink with all documents in Osiris. The requirements below are the gate for being considered; a programme can add subject requirements on top.
| Diploma | What the University of Twente requires | Not directly admissible |
|---|---|---|
| International Baccalaureate | A completed IB Diploma before the academic year starts; in general no minimum IB grade; HL subjects where a programme requires HL | IB Career-related Certificate |
| UK (I)GCSE and GCE A2-Level | At least 3 (I)GCSE / O-Level at A, B or C (or 4-9) and 3 full A2-Levels at A, B or C; six different subjects | BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma |
| US High School Diploma (also Türkiye national diploma) | Accredited diploma, case-by-case review; at least 4 AP exams scored 3, 4, or 5 | GED credential |
| European Baccalaureate | A completed EB diploma; admissibility depends on subjects and levels | Not stated |
| German Abitur | Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (AHR) with the required subjects | Fachhochschulreife |
IB Diploma
The University of Twente requires "a successfully completed International Baccalaureate diploma" before the academic year starts and says that "in general, there is no minimum IB grade requirement". What counts is your subjects: a high score at Standard Level cannot replace the same subject at Higher Level when the programme requires HL. The IB Career-related Certificate is not directly admissible.
(I)GCSE and GCE A-levels
The University of Twente UK page requires at least 3 (I)GCSE or O-Level subjects at A, B or C (or a score of 4-9) and 3 full GCE A2-Levels at A, B or C, across six different subjects. Only one language may count among the three A2-Levels, and the subject and board must be in the Ofqual register, with International A-Levels from Pearson, Cambridge and OxfordAQA as the exception.
At the University of Twente, an extra test such as CCVX or James Boswell-Bèta cannot replace an A-Level: it is an option only if you already have three A-Levels and miss a required subject. Provisional results are not accepted for the application; official certificates come out in November after the June exam session.
US High School Diploma and AP exams
The University of Twente accepts an officially recognised and accredited US High School Diploma from a school accredited by a recognised regional body or a State Board of Education, and assesses it case by case together with the national expertise centre. The AP rules apply to national diplomas from the United States or Türkiye: at least 4 AP exams with a score of 3, 4, or 5, only AP subjects concluded with an exam. Admission is not guaranteed, and a GED is not directly admissible. For homeschooled and online-schooled students, the accreditation status will be assessed individually, on a case-by-case basis. Because the USA High School Diploma can vary in level compared to the Dutch education system, there is no guaranteed admission, and in case of possible acceptance, additional test(s) are required.
European Baccalaureate and Abitur
With a completed European Baccalaureate, the University of Twente says you will probably be admissible, depending on your subjects and levels. For the German Abitur, the basic requirement is the Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (AHR); a Fachhochschulreife does not give direct admission.
Routes if you are not directly admissible
- A missing subject: certificates in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry from CCVX, James Boswell-Bèta or the Dutch Staatsexamen, before the deficiency deadline.
- A completed first year at university abroad, or the full credits of a first academic year.
- An HBO Propedeuse, which does not guarantee access to a University of Twente bachelor.
- The Colloquium Doctum, for applicants aged at least 21 on 1 September without Dutch VWO-level qualifications.
Applying to the University of Twente from your country: what the country list says
The University of Twente country list sets a separate rule per national diploma: a Polish applicant to a technical bachelor needs written mathematics at extended level with at least 30%, a Spanish applicant needs Bachiller plus EBAU with at least 5 per required Bachiller subject, and diplomas from Poland, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Slovenia give no English exemption.
The University of Twente country list sits on its bachelor admission page and names, for each country, the diploma, the subject levels and whether the diploma exempts you from an English test. Mathematics, physics and chemistry requirements per programme
For the September 2027 intake, every University of Twente technical bachelor asks IB applicants for Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level (Dutch VWO Mathematics B), most add Physics, and the social sciences bachelors accept IB Mathematics Applications and Interpretations or Analysis and Approaches at Standard or Higher Level (VWO Mathematics A); EB applicants to Advanced Technology need Mathematics 5 hours and Physics 4 hours.
The University of Twente explains the logic with the Dutch system: "For the social sciences bachelor's programmes, VWO Mathematics A is required. For the technical bachelor's programmes, VWO Mathematics B is required." Your diploma page (IB, UK, European Baccalaureate) translates that into subjects and levels per programme, and every programme also requires English.
| VWO equivalent | Programmes | IB Diploma subjects |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics A | Communication Science, Creative Technology, Health Sciences, International Business Administration, Psychology, Public Administration | Mathematics Applications and Interpretations or Analysis and Approaches, Standard or Higher Level |
| Mathematics B | Applied Mathematics, Business Information Technology, Industrial Engineering & Management, Technical Computer Science | Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, Higher Level |
| Mathematics B + Physics | Advanced Technology, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering | Mathematics AA Higher Level + Physics Higher Level |
| Mathematics B + Physics | Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering | Mathematics AA Higher Level + Physics Standard or Higher Level |
| Mathematics B + Physics + Chemistry | Biomedical Technology, Chemical Science & Engineering | Mathematics AA Higher Level + Physics and Chemistry at Standard or Higher Level, at least one at Higher Level |
| Mathematics B + Physics + Chemistry + Biology | Technical Medicine | Mathematics AA Higher Level + Physics Higher Level + Chemistry and Biology at Standard or Higher Level |
On the University of Twente IB page, a high Standard Level score cannot replace the same subject at Higher Level when HL is required. One exception is written out: Chemical Science & Engineering applicants with IB Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Standard Level are assessed individually by the programme staff.
A-levels and European Baccalaureate subjects
On the University of Twente UK page, the same groups appear as GCE A2-Level subjects: Advanced Technology needs A2-Level Mathematics and Physics, Biomedical Technology adds Chemistry, and Technical Medicine needs Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A2-Level. Dutch-taught programmes also list Dutch.
For the European Baccalaureate, the University of Twente sets hours per week: Advanced Technology asks for Mathematics 5 hours and Physics 4 hours, Technical Medicine for Mathematics 5 hours plus Physics, Chemistry and Biology at 4 hours each, and Psychology for Mathematics 3 hours.
Programmes that need only mathematics
Communication Science, Creative Technology, International Business Administration, Psychology and Public Administration ask IB applicants only for one of the two IB mathematics courses at either level, plus English. Public Administration asks for sufficient mathematics or statistics in secondary education or an HBO first year. Applied Mathematics, Business Information Technology, Industrial Engineering & Management and Technical Computer Science need no science subject but do need Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level; Industrial Engineering & Management adds that you need a good level of advanced mathematics.
Dutch vwo profiles
With a Dutch vwo diploma, the University of Twente Psychology bachelor accepts all profiles. Advanced Technology admits vwo holders with Natuur & Techniek, or Natuur & Gezondheid together with Wiskunde B and Natuurkunde. Technische Geneeskunde admits Natuur & Techniek plus Biologie, Natuur & Gezondheid plus Natuurkunde and Wiskunde B, or Economie & Maatschappij or Cultuur & Maatschappij plus Biologie, Natuurkunde, Wiskunde B and Scheikunde.
Making up a missing subject
If your overall level is equivalent to Dutch vwo but a subject, grade or level is missing, the University of Twente may let you resolve the deficiency with an additional test from CCVX, James Boswell-Bèta or the Dutch Staatsexamen, passed before the deficiency deadline, which for a standard programme is before 15 June for non-EEA nationals and before 15 August for EEA nationals. Technical Computer Science names a James Boswell Mathematics B course as an option for Dutch and international students.
Subject lists per programme and diploma
Bachelor programmes at the University of Twente: English- and Dutch-taught
Every bachelor on the University of Twente programmes overview is a full-time BSc of 3 years, and most are 100% English-taught; Biomedical Technology and Health Sciences are 80% Dutch-taught, Technical Medicine is 100% Dutch-taught, and Psychology is listed as 100% English-taught, 66% Dutch-taught because it runs two tracks. The overview names no intake year, so read it as the current list of programmes.
If you need an English-taught bachelor, the University of Twente leaves you a wide choice across engineering, science, business, social science and design. Programmes with two tracks or two locations
Psychology at the University of Twente has two tracks: the Dutch track, where matching is mandatory, and the fully English track, which has a numerus fixus, a limited number of places. The selection and matching chapter explains what each route asks of you.
Mechanical Engineering and Creative Technology can be studied in Enschede or in Amsterdam. The University of Twente application fee page calls these the Amsterdam VU collaborations in the bachelor's programmes in Creative Technology and Mechanical Engineering.
How teaching works: the Twente Education Model
All University of Twente bachelor's programmes are taught with the Twente Education Model (TOM). During the first two years you follow four modules per year, each built around a theme that you explore in lectures, workshops and feedback sessions with other students.
Each Twente module ends with a team project on a current problem in society or business. Your team divides the work, each student is responsible for one component, and you are assessed on what your team members have done as well. Teams mix students from different bachelor's programmes.
The workload follows the Dutch credit system: each credit represents 28 hours of work and you need 60 credits each year. In the first year at the University of Twente you need at least 45 out of 60 points to continue to the second year, so a weak first year can end your studies there.
The third year of a University of Twente bachelor is the graduation year. Half of it is electives, with Technical Medicine as the exception, and the other half is the concluding bachelor's assignment, which you can do for a research group, a company or a (semi)government institution. The electives can be an internship, a period abroad or modules from other programmes.
Career prospects: what University of Twente graduates do next
University of Twente programme pages describe a master's as the usual next step after the bachelor: in Mechanical Engineering, around 75% of graduates chose the university's own two-year, English-taught Master's in Mechanical Engineering. The University of Twente does not publish employment rates or salaries for bachelor graduates; its programme pages name employers and sectors instead.
The Advanced Technology page says the same about its graduates: after the bachelor you can specialise with a master's, and most students choose to do this, at the University of Twente, at another Dutch university or abroad. A few join the job market straight away or start their own business.
Master's after a Twente bachelor
With a University of Twente bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, you are directly admissible to the Master's in Mechanical Engineering. Of the other 25%, many continue to other master's, such as Sustainable Energy Technology, Robotics or Humanitarian Engineering at the University of Twente, or aviation or automotive technology at another university.
For International Business Administration, the University of Twente says you can take a one-year or two-year master's programme after the bachelor. For Advanced Technology, the study adviser can tell you which modules to take for the master's you want, and other universities may ask you to complete a pre-master's first.
Jobs and employers
The University of Twente Mechanical Engineering page states that most students do not enter the job market until they have a master's degree. It names TNO, Unilever, Tesla, Shell and Tata Steel as well-known companies employing its graduates, and Demcon, Apollo Vredestein, OPRA Turbines, AkzoNobel and Thales among the employers of alumni in the Twente region.
International Business Administration graduates, according to the University of Twente, join commercial companies, non-profit organisations, government agencies or scientific institutes. These are sectors, not outcome statistics: the University of Twente does not publish employment rates or starting salaries for bachelor graduates.
Support for international students
Before you apply, the University of Twente lets prospective international students seek support from an approved educational agent working with the university in their country. Once you study there, the Twente Education Model page promises intensive support: besides a study adviser, you can call on lecturers, tutors and study assistants.
University of Twente tuition rates and living costs
At the University of Twente the tuition fee follows your nationality: an EU/EEA national usually pays the statutory fee and a non-EU/EEA national the institutional fee, which has a lower and a higher rate by programme. Communication Science, International Business Administration, Psychology and Public Administration are the lower-rate bachelors; every other bachelor is higher-rate.
At the University of Twente, the tuition fee you pay depends on two factors: your nationality and the type of programme you choose. The statutory fee is set and subsidised by the Dutch government and may change each academic year; the institutional fee is higher because Dutch universities do not receive government funding for non-EU/EEA students.
| Fee | Who usually pays it | Bachelors |
|---|---|---|
| Statutory fee | Most EU/EEA nationals | Set and subsidised by the Dutch government |
| Institutional fee, lower rate | Usually non-EU/EEA nationals | Communication Science; International Business Administration; Psychology; Public Administration |
| Institutional fee, higher rate | Usually non-EU/EEA nationals | Advanced Technology; Applied Mathematics; Applied Physics; Biomedical Technology; Business Information Technology; Chemical Science & Engineering; Civil Engineering; Creative Technology; Electrical Engineering; Health Sciences; Industrial Design Engineering; Industrial Engineering & Management; Mechanical Engineering; Technical Computer Science; Technical Medicine |
The statutory tuition fee at the University of Twente applies to most, but not all, students from EU/EEA countries. If you do not meet the conditions for the statutory fee, you pay the institutional fee even with an EU/EEA passport.
Lower-rate and higher-rate programmes
The University of Twente lower rate covers these bachelors: Communication Science, International Business Administration, Psychology and Public Administration. Every other bachelor pays the higher rate: Advanced Technology, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Technology, Business Information Technology, Chemical Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Creative Technology, Electrical Engineering, Health Sciences, Industrial Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Computer Science and Technical Medicine.
Living costs in Enschede
The University of Twente English tuition page lists what a month in Enschede costs on average. The page breaks the estimate down as follows, with no year attached.
The English page adds that housing in Enschede is generally cheaper than in other Dutch student cities and that your rent depends on the type of accommodation.
One-time costs at the start: a laptop, which the University of Twente suggests buying through its Laptop Project; a deposit for your room, usually comparable to one month's rent; and furnishings and furniture of approx. € 750.
The application fee
On top of tuition, every student holding a non-Dutch educational degree pays a University of Twente application fee of €100 for a bachelor's application, regardless of nationality, and the payment is valid for one academic year. Holders of a (Dutch recognised) vwo diploma from the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius or Suriname are exempt, as are Twente Pathway College students. The University of Twente never refunds the fee, even if your application is rejected.
Scholarships and student finance for University of Twente bachelor students
The University of Twente offers its own scholarships only to students pursuing a master's degree: the University of Twente Scholarship is worth € 3,000 - € 22,000 for one year and the NL Scholarship € 5,000, both for master's applicants. As a bachelor applicant, your options are Dutch student finance from DUO, if you meet its conditions, and funding from your home country.
The University of Twente tuition page says it plainly: applying for a scholarship is separate from applying for admission and is entirely your own responsibility. The University of Twente is not involved in the scholarship application process and cannot secure funding on your behalf.
| Option | Amount | Open to bachelor students? |
|---|---|---|
| University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) | € 3,000 - € 22,000 for one year | No: you apply for a master's programme first; not for students paying the statutory fee |
| NL Scholarship | € 5,000, first year only | No: for excellent non-EU/EEA students applying for a master's |
| DUO Tuition and Course Grant (Dutch student finance) | Grants or loans | Yes, if you meet the DUO conditions |
| Home-country ministry of education, Nuffic, Study in Holland | Not stated by the University of Twente | Search them yourself |
The University of Twente Scholarship is for qualifying University of Twente master's programmes and is not available to students who pay the statutory tuition fee, which usually applies to EU/EEA students. For a bachelor's degree, the University of Twente recommends starting your search with your country's Ministry of Education or equivalent body, then Nuffic and the Study in Holland website.
Dutch student finance from DUO
DUO can support international students through grants or loans, and the University of Twente lists its Tuition and Course Grant in the scholarship finder. If you are not a Dutch national but live in the Netherlands, you may qualify in certain situations, depending on your residence permit or nationality.
- You must have lived in the Netherlands for 5 consecutive years or more, or you (or your non-Dutch parent or partner) must work in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours per month.
- Without the nationality of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, you can still qualify with a residence permit type II, III or IV.
- You must be under the age of 30 when you apply.
- You always have to pay back the loan; the student travel product and supplementary grant become a gift if you graduate within 10 years, otherwise you repay them as well.
The DUO page on the University of Twente scholarship finder also asks for a Dutch citizen service number and a Dutch bank account, and it states that exchange students are not eligible for a tuition grant. The same page sets the DUO application deadline at least one month before the first payment.
How long a scholarship application takes
The University of Twente scholarship FAQ warns that the process from your application to a provider granting a scholarship may take 6 to 10 months. If you want outside funding for September 2027, start with your home-country options well before you apply to the University of Twente.
Student housing at the University of Twente and in Enschede
The University of Twente guarantees a room only to some students: if you are a non-EEA bachelor starter who needs a visa, you may get the Special Offer Short-Stay UT, a guaranteed offer in Roomspot for a maximum of one year, booked for the September intake between 16 May & 31 July. EEA bachelor students get no guaranteed housing offer and find their own room.
The University of Twente housing page puts it in one line: some students receive a guaranteed housing offer, while others need to arrange their own accommodation. For bachelor students, which group you are in depends on your nationality and on whether you need an entry visa or residence permit.
Non-EEA students: the Special Offer Short-Stay UT
You qualify for the University of Twente Special Offer if you need an entry visa and/or a residence permit, join the University of Twente for the first time and do not currently live in the Netherlands. You rent the room through the university for a maximum of one year, and any extension or renewal is not possible; the offer is a room, not housing for families, couples or students who want to live together.
You receive only one University of Twente housing offer. The university advises you to consider it carefully, because it cannot guarantee a new offer if you reject it; if you decline, you find accommodation yourself.
EEA students: finding your own room
As an EEA bachelor student, including a Dutch one, you will not receive a guaranteed housing offer from the University of Twente and are responsible for your own accommodation. The university advises you to watch Roomspot, Kamernet and Pararius, to start searching at least three months before your arrival, and to start house hunting in May for the September intake; finding something suitable can take up to two months.
The University of Twente is a campus university, so you can live on campus or in the city. On campus, Veste Wonen rents rooms from €350 - €550 and two-room apartments from €600 - €700 a month, with electricity, water, gas and wired internet included in the rent.
What a room costs
The University of Twente English tuition page adds that housing in Enschede is generally cheaper than in other Dutch student cities. Budget for a deposit too, which the same page says is usually comparable to one month's rent.
Housing scams
The University of Twente warns of a reported housing scammer in Enschede using the names Denny De Jong or D. Wind, who poses as the landlord, provides a rental contract, shows the property and asks for rent or a deposit to a Revolut account, although the property is not his. The university's general advice is not to be too picky, but to watch out for scammers.
One red flag the University of Twente names: a landlord who says he cannot show you the accommodation but will send you the keys once the deposit is transferred. Register on the housing platforms the university names and do not pay before you have seen the room or a trusted contract.
Student life at the University of Twente and in Enschede
The Kick-In is the University of Twente's official introduction period for all new students: you spend nine days in an introduction group getting to know the university, the campus and the city of Enschede. After that, University of Twente student life runs through over a hundred student associations, a study association for every programme and a sports centre on campus.
For international students, the Student Union adds a Pickup Service and a Buddy Programme to help you settle in after arrival. Before you arrive, the University of Twente invites first-year students to the Goin' app, where you can meet other new students, for example to find a flatmate.
Study associations, student associations and sports
Each University of Twente study programme has a study association that organises activities related to your programme, such as symposia and study trips. Student associations are not tied to a programme and range from cultural, sports, international and social associations to a debating club and an investment club; the Student Union is the umbrella organisation for all of them.
| What | What the University of Twente states |
|---|---|
| Student associations | Over a hundred |
| Study associations | One for each study programme |
| Cultural associations on campus | More than twenty, plus the Vrijhof Cultural Centre |
| Outdoor sports | A 30-metre-high climbing wall and a 400-metre cinder track, among other facilities |
| Nationalities on campus | More than 100 |
You need a UnionCard to use the University of Twente sports and culture on offer; the card also brings free swimming in Enschede, free use of pop studios and student discounts. With the cultural associations and the Vrijhof Cultural Centre, the campus has theatre performances, exhibitions and film screenings all year round, and every trimester brings a new range of courses and workshops.
Student teams and Honours programmes
University of Twente student teams build, for example, a solar car, an electric superbike, a drone or a robot, and regularly compete against teams from other universities. The best-known teams the University of Twente names include Solar Team Twente, Electric Superbike Twente, RoboTeam Twente, which takes part in the annual RoboCup challenge, and HyDriven, a team from the University of Twente and Saxion that builds a hydrogen car.
If you rank among the top 10% of your programme, the University of Twente Honours programmes run alongside your bachelor's degree and add depth, research opportunities and training in skills such as critical thinking and leadership.
The campus and the city of Enschede
On the University of Twente campus you can study, live, exercise and relax in one place, with sports facilities, laboratories and even a supermarket within easy reach. The University of Twente links the campus's mix of more than 100 nationalities to its international profile and its location close to the German border.
Enschede has over 160,000 inhabitants and over 150 nationalities and is the largest city in the east of the Netherlands, the University of Twente says. Around 27,000 students study at the University of Twente, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, ArtEZ Conservatoire or AKI, and the University of Twente says Enschede offers affordable housing compared to other student cities. Nightlife centres on the Oude Markt square, and Enschede is home to the football club FC Twente.
Visa, residence permit and practical matters for international students
Under Dutch law you cannot apply for a visa or residence permit yourself as a non-EEA student: the University of Twente coordinates the application and submits it to the IND for you, and the procedure starts only after you have been admitted. For the September intake, the University of Twente visa deadlines page sets 15 June for your answers to the visa questions, 30 June for paying the fees and uploading proof of finances, and 15 July for your documents.
Every non-EEA student goes through this process, including students who already hold a residence permit, because the University of Twente needs to verify it. If you miss a visa deadline, you will not be able to start your studies at the University of Twente on time.
The € 254 visa application fee is not returned if you fail to meet the requirements or withdraw. For the Psychology English track and Technical Medicine, the University of Twente deadlines page adds that non-EEA applicants who need an IND application must be eligible for a place before 1 June; if you have not been offered a place by then, your application is cancelled.
After you arrive: doctor, identification, insurance
As soon as you arrive in the Netherlands, you are obliged to register with a general practitioner, for example the GP on campus. As a resident you must be able to identify yourself to the authorities at all times, so the University of Twente strongly encourages you to carry your passport, ID card or residence permit.
| Your situation | What you need |
|---|---|
| Insured in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, no paid work in the Netherlands | A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your insurer; additional insurance is not required |
| British student | An EHIC is no longer valid because of Brexit; arrange valid insurance yourself |
| Non-EU/EEA student | Valid health insurance is mandatory; most students take an AON Full Degree or Exchange package |
| Paid work in the Netherlands | Dutch Basic Healthcare Insurance, which costs around € 100 a month |
Once you have opened a Dutch bank account, you can add its number to your AON policy and have the monthly premium deducted automatically, the University of Twente insurance page explains.
Working while you study
The University of Twente does not publish a limit on working hours for non-EEA students. Its insurance page says that Basic Healthcare Insurance costs around € 100 a month, so if you do not work many hours you might want to reconsider taking the job.
Who is the University of Twente for? Summary
The University of Twente suits you best if you want an English-taught technical bachelor and have strong mathematics: for the September 2027 intake, a programme such as Technical Computer Science asks IB applicants for Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and it is a higher-rate bachelor for anyone who pays the institutional fee. Only two bachelors cap entry: the Psychology English track with 250 places and the Dutch-taught Technical Medicine with 150 places for 2027-2028.
For every other University of Twente bachelor, admission is a bar, not a competition: there are no grade offers, the IB page states that "In general, there is no minimum IB grade requirement", and what counts is a diploma equivalent to Dutch vwo with the subjects your programme lists.
The University of Twente suits you less in four situations:
- You want medicine in English: Technical Medicine is 100% Dutch-taught and allocates its 2027-2028 places by unweighted lottery, without grades.
- You want a technical bachelor but your mathematics stops at Standard Level: a high Standard Level score does not replace a required Higher Level, so you would have to make up the gap first.
- You need a bachelor scholarship from the university: the University of Twente offers its own scholarships to students pursuing a master's degree.
- You want to start in February: there is no February intake.
How the University of Twente programmes compare
The University of Twente splits its bachelors along two lines that mostly coincide, mathematics and institutional rate; Creative Technology and Health Sciences combine the lighter mathematics with the higher rate. AI and AA are the IB courses Mathematics Applications and Interpretations and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, as the IB page sets them for the September 2027 intake; undated deadlines are standing September-intake dates.
| Programmes | IB mathematics and sciences | Completed application | Institutional rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Communication Science, International Business Administration, Public Administration | AI or AA, Standard or Higher Level | Before 1 May non-EEA, before 1 July EEA | Lower |
| Psychology, English track (250 places) | AI or AA, Standard or Higher Level | By 15 January 2027, any nationality | Lower |
| Creative Technology; Health Sciences (80% Dutch-taught) | AI or AA, Standard or Higher Level | Before 1 May non-EEA, before 1 July EEA | Higher |
| Applied Mathematics, Business Information Technology, Industrial Engineering & Management, Technical Computer Science | AA Higher Level | Before 1 May non-EEA, before 1 July EEA; Technical Computer Science no later than 1 May | Higher |
| Advanced Technology, Applied Physics, Biomedical Technology (80% Dutch-taught), Chemical Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering | AA Higher Level plus Physics; Biomedical Technology and Chemical Science & Engineering add Chemistry | Before 1 May non-EEA, before 1 July EEA; Mechanical Engineering before 1 May for all nationalities | Higher |
| Technical Medicine, Dutch-taught (150 places) | AA Higher Level, Physics Higher Level, Chemistry, Biology | By 15 January 2027, any nationality | Higher |
The rate split matters only if you pay the institutional fee.
