Unicamp admission at a glance
The Bachelor route most foreign applicants face at Unicamp is the entrance exam run by Comvest, which is offered once a year and only in Portuguese; the latest published cycle, the Vestibular Unicamp 2027, offered 2.523 places in 70 undergraduate courses and registration closed on 8 September 2026. Undergraduate study is free: no fees or monthly fees.
Unicamp is a state university in Campinas, in the State of São Paulo. The international office describes the selection as one of the most competitive in Brazil, normally selecting 3.320 candidates from more than 75 thousand applicants. The same office lists 69 undergraduate courses, including medicine, dentistry, several engineering areas, sciences and arts.
Everything on this page describes the Vestibular Unicamp 2027 cycle, the latest published one: exams in October to December 2026 and a first call of approved candidates on 25 January 2027. Treat its dates as the latest published, not as dates of a later cycle. Three things shape a foreign applicant's plan: the exam is in Portuguese and held in Brazil, tuition is free, and the other routes open to people with foreign documents (refugee selection, PEC-G, transfer) are narrow and each has its own conditions. The chapters below take them in turn.
How a foreign applicant enters Unicamp
The international office sends foreign Bachelor applicants to Comvest, which runs the National Entrance Exam, and states that the exam is offered once a year and only in Portuguese.
The first phase of the Vestibular 2027 was held in 33 cities of the State of São Paulo and the capitals Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Recife and Salvador. The candidate picks the city on the form, and it must be the same for both phases, except for the cities in the Comvest table. A reader abroad should plan to travel to Brazil twice, for the two phases.
The routes on the published pages
- Vestibular Unicamp: two phases, plus specific-skills tests for courses that require them.
- Enem-Unicamp: places filled with Brazilian Enem scores; only the 2026 Enem edition.
- Vagas Remanescentes (transfer): open to students of other national or foreign institutions and holders of a recognised higher-education diploma.
- Refugee and at-risk selection: a separate process for foreigners in refuge or at-risk situations.
- PEC-G: a government programme, applications go through the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in the candidate's country.
The pages above list no IB, A-level or AP route and do not tell foreign secondary-school graduates how to have a foreign certificate recognised; the exam requires an identity document presented within its validity and the edital of each process sets the documents. The Vestibular Unicamp: phases and registration
The Vestibular has two phases; to register you fill in the registration form and pay the fee.
For the 2027 cycle registration opened on 03 August 2026 and the original deadline was 31 August 2026; Comvest extended it, and the last day to register was 8 September 2026. The last day to pay the fee was 8 September 2026.
The first phase took place on 18 October 2026. Comvest reports that of 58.431 registered, 3.729 did not attend. The list of candidates called to the second phase is due on 23 November, with second-phase venues and cut-off marks, and the second phase is scheduled for 29 and 30 November 2026.
Courses that need practical tests add specific-skills tests: 02 to 04 December 2026 for Artes Cênicas, Artes Visuais and Dança. The Comvest FAQ explains that the bank slip can be paid at a bank, a post office or online, and that PIX is not possible. Sources: Vestibular Unicamp 2027 page; Comvest FAQ.
Calendar of the 2027 cycle
The 2027 cycle runs from registration on 03 August 2026 to the first call on 25 January 2027; every registration deadline of the Vestibular has already passed.
Candidates in ethnic-racial quota places are called to a virtual interview: 26 January 2027 for the first call. Source: Vestibular Unicamp 2027 page.
Enem-Unicamp
Enem-Unicamp fills 431 places in 2027 with Brazilian Enem scores, uses only the 2026 Enem edition, and Unicamp does not take part in SISU.
Registration opened on 01 October 2026; the fee can be paid until 21 October 2026. The fee is 50,00 reais (R$ 50). The Comvest page for this route does not describe a route for foreign certificates; it relies on the Brazilian Enem exam. Source: Enem-Unicamp 2027 page.
Places by admission route
Comvest lists five ways in for 2027: 2523 places through the Vestibular, 431 through Enem-Unicamp, 326 through Provão Paulista, 129 through the Vestibular Indígena and 136 through the olympiads edital.
| Route | Places |
|---|---|
| Vestibular Unicamp 2027 | 2523 |
| Enem-Unicamp 2027 | 431 |
| Provão Paulista 2027 | 326 |
| Vestibular Indígena 2027 | 129 |
| Scientific olympiads and knowledge competitions | 136 |
Provão Paulista, the Vestibular Indígena and the olympiad edital are routes for Brazilian-specific groups or competitions; the pages reviewed do not present them as routes for foreign certificate holders. Source: Comvest admission modalities 2027.
Foreign students and diploma holders: Vagas Remanescentes
Students already in higher education abroad or holding a recognised diploma can use the transfer process: students of other national or foreign institutions and holders of a recognised higher-education diploma in a different course may register, and the 2027 edition offered 508 places.
This is not a first-degree route for secondary-school graduates. It has two stages: reading and specific-knowledge tests (PLIT and PCE), then curriculum compatibility analysis, and a minimum compatibility percentage that varies from course to course.
Comvest calls up up to three times the number of places in the course to the curriculum analysis. Source: Vagas Remanescentes 2027 page.
Refugee and at-risk foreign applicants
Unicamp runs a separate selection for foreigners in refuge or at-risk situations; in the 2027 transfer process it has only the curriculum compatibility analysis, and the first edition in 2025 offered 45 places in 26 course options.
The international office explains that a rector resolution allows requests for places by refugees, asylum seekers and humanitarian-policy migrants, and adds that no places are guaranteed.
In 2025 registration was free of charge, with applications until 30 April 2025. Candidates chose Spanish, English or Portuguese for the test, and the process had two phases: the online tests (Plit, PCE and a writing test) and a curriculum compatibility analysis (2025 edition, the latest described in a news item). PEC-G
PEC-G is a programme for students from developing countries with which Brazil has agreements, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, and applications are made at the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate.
The Unicamp international office states the conditions: secondary education completed outside Brazil in a country on the programme notice, no Brazilian citizenship, no dual nationality and no Brazilian visa of any type. The page does not list which countries are on the notice, so check the PEC-G notice for your country. Source: Unicamp international office: ways of admission for foreign students.
IB, A-level, AP and foreign secondary certificates
The pages reviewed set no minimum for IB, A-level or AP and name no country-by-country certificate table; the exam is only in Portuguese and is sat in Brazil.
What the pages do state: a candidate who has not finished secondary school and will not finish by the entry year may register as a trainee-only candidate in the Vestibular, but those candidates do not compete for places. For documents, each process publishes an edital; for the transfer process the called candidates send them digitally from 03 to 09 November 2026. Applicants from Italy, France, Poland, Spain, Greece, Germany and the other countries on your list should therefore ask Comvest which certificate documents are accepted before registering. Portuguese language requirement
The entrance exam is offered only in Portuguese, and the international office states a placement test for Portuguese for Foreigners classes at the Center for Language Studies (CEL).
The pages reviewed do not name Celpe-Bras or any other certificate as an admission requirement for the Vestibular. A reader without strong Portuguese should treat the exam language as the main barrier. Exam languages other than Portuguese appear only in the refugee and at-risk selection (Spanish, English or Portuguese in 2025). Programmes international applicants ask about
Among the courses of the Vestibular 2027, Ciência da Computação (Noturno) and Engenharia de Computação (Integral) sit in the exact sciences and technology area, Medicina (Integral) among the health courses, and Ciências Econômicas (Noturno) appears among the ten most sought-after courses.
| Course | What the page states |
|---|---|
| Ciência da Computação | Noturno (evening); exact sciences and technology |
| Engenharia de Computação | Integral (full-time); exact sciences and technology |
| Medicina | Integral (full-time); health sciences |
| Ciências Econômicas | Noturno; among the ten most sought-after courses |
| Relações Internacionais | 60 places in 2027; Limeira campus |
| Inteligência Artificial e Ciência de Dados | 40 places |
Relações Internacionais and Inteligência Artificial e Ciência de Dados were offered for the first time in 2027; both are taught at the Limeira campus, not in Campinas. Medicina, Ciência da Computação and Engenharia da Computação are also named among the top ten. Sources: Vestibular Unicamp 2027 page; Unicamp news, September 2026.
How competitive the Vestibular is
The Vestibular 2027 drew 58.431 registrations, 5,2% fewer than the previous year, for 2.523 places.
The ten most sought-after courses were Medicina, Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Ciência da Computação, Farmácia, Ciências Biológicas (Integral), Engenharia da Computação, Ciências Econômicas (Noturno), Fonoaudiologia, Comunicação Social-Midialogia and Relações Internacionais. The new course Relações Internacionais drew 1.333 registrations and Inteligência Artificial e Ciência de Dados drew 550.
Course-level candidate-per-place tables and weighted minimum marks are published by Comvest as separate documents; use them to compare courses. Source: Unicamp news, September 2026; Vestibular Unicamp 2027 page.
Tuition and exam fees
Undergraduate courses are free, with no fees or monthly fees; the costs a foreign applicant meets are the exam registration fee, R$ 221,00 for the Vestibular 2026, the latest amount published, and 50,00 reais (R$ 50) for Enem-Unicamp 2027.
The 2027 Vestibular fee amount is not on the pages reviewed, so the 2026 figure is the latest published. The fee is paid by bank slip and PIX is not possible. The tuition statement applies to Unicamp undergraduate courses as the international office puts it, for every student. Registration fee waiver
Comvest's fee waiver for 2027 is valid for the Vestibular and for Enem-Unicamp; requests closed on 05 June 2026, and 8.810 candidates requested it.
Waivers are for the exam registration fee only. Beneficiaries still must complete the registration form for exempt candidates. Source: fee-waiver page.
Special students and double degrees
Foreign students with a recognised degree or enrolment elsewhere can take courses as special students: a completed recognised course or current enrolment at another Brazilian or foreign institution is required, with a maximum of 14 credits per semester.
Double-degree programmes are mostly undergraduate, with partners in Italy and mainly France. The student's home university must have an agreement with Unicamp and its international office sends the application, not the student. These routes lead to no Unicamp Bachelor diploma on their own account unless the double-degree agreement says so.
