Adelaide University admission at a glance for international applicants
International applicants apply online through the Online Application System and pay AUD 150 per application, and for every programme in this report the English minimum is IELTS Overall 6.5, with 6 in each skill.
The minimum entry score is set per programme and per country of school completion: the minimum entry score depends on the country of academic completion. For the IB Diploma it runs from 25 for the Bachelor of Science and the Bachelor of Business (International Business) to 28 for Civil Engineering (Honours).
Tuition is listed per programme as an indicative annual figure, from $45,100 to $57,100 for the five programmes covered here. Every programme lists February, July as start months. No admission is guaranteed: admission is competitive and ranked on the entry criteria when eligible applicants outnumber places.
Adelaide University and the University of Adelaide: which name to search
The official pages quoted in this report use the name Adelaide University, so search and apply under that name.
The address adelaide.edu.au carries the degree pages, the international entry requirements and the application instructions used throughout this report. Older pages on the same domain still use the earlier branding, and some of them describe programmes that international students can no longer apply to, so rely on the current degree page.
Each degree page lists its own entry scores, English minimum and fee. That is why this report gives figures per programme instead of one university-wide number.
Programmes covered in this report
This report covers five undergraduate programmes that international applicants commonly choose: Computer Science, Science, Business (International Business), International Relations and Civil Engineering (Honours).
All five are on-campus degrees and part-time study is not available for international students, at least on the Computer Science page. Medicine and law are not covered because no current international degree page for them was found at the time of checking.
| Programme | Indicative annual fee (AUD) | Start months |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Computer Science | $55,400 | February, July |
| Bachelor of Science | $55,400 | February, July |
| Bachelor of Business (International Business) | $52,500 | February, July |
| Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) | $57,100 | February, July |
| Bachelor of International Relations | $45,100 | February, July |
The fee is the indicative annual figure on each degree page as of October 2026, the latest published; a 2027 fee table was not found, and the page says fees are subject to change annually.
How to apply to Adelaide University from abroad
All international applications are submitted online through the Online Application System, and you can apply yourself or through one of the authorised Education Agents.
Each application carries a non-refundable fee of AUD 150. You upload certified copies of your official academic documents as part of the application; documents in another language need certified translations as well.
The state admissions centres used by Australian school leavers (for example UAC, VTAC, QTAC, SATAC) do not appear in the international instructions on these pages.
Official page: Apply now - international students.
Adelaide University application deadlines and intakes for 2027
The degree pages list February and July as start months, and the apply-now page says some degrees have different application deadlines, to be checked on each degree page.
The stored degree pages do not print a closing date, so no deadline is given here as a fact. For entry in autumn 2027, check the closing date on the degree page before you start the application.
An autumn-2027 start in the northern hemisphere does not map to a single Adelaide intake: the February intake falls in the southern summer and the July intake in the southern winter. Pick the month on the degree page, and count back for English tests, document translation and the student visa.
Entry routes for international undergraduate applicants
Most readers enter with a secondary qualification: completion of a secondary qualification equivalent to SACE, such as an interstate year 12 or international qualification.
Another route is at least six months of full-time study of a bachelor program at a recognised institution. Prerequisite subjects and essential requirements apply on top of the score.
Meeting the score is a gate, not a promise: admission is competitive and ranked on the entry criteria.
IB Diploma requirements for Adelaide University programmes
The IB Diploma minimum is 25 for Science and Business (International Business), 26 for Computer Science and International Relations, and 28 for Civil Engineering (Honours).
| Programme | IB Diploma | GCE A-Levels (UK / Global) | AP (USA / Global) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Computer Science | 26 | 8 | 8 |
| Bachelor of Science | 25 | 7 | 7 |
| Bachelor of Business (International Business) | 25 | 7 | 7 |
| Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) | 28 | 9 | 9 |
| Bachelor of International Relations | 26 | 8 | 8 |
These are the minimum scores on each degree page and work as a gate. The page does not say what scores the admitted students had, and it publishes no cut-off or admission statistics for international applicants.
A-Levels and AP requirements
The A-Level figure is a single score per programme: 7 for Science and Business, 8 for Computer Science and International Relations, and 9 for Civil Engineering (Honours).
The degree pages list it under UK / Global GCE Advanced Levels without explaining how the score is calculated, so check with the admissions team how your grades convert. AP is listed in the same way, with the same figures per programme, for example 9 for Civil Engineering (Honours).
The pages list SAT and ACT scores in the same table for US applicants; they are outside the scope of this report.
French Baccalaureate, Vietnamese Year 12 and Indonesian SMA III
The French Baccalaureate minimum ranges from 11.0 to 12.0, the Vietnamese upper-secondary certificate minimum from 7.8 to 8.3, and Indonesian SMA III from 75% to 80%.
| Programme | French Baccalaureate | Vietnamese Year 12 | Indonesia SMA III |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Computer Science | 11.5 | 8 | 78% |
| Bachelor of Science | 11.0 | 7.8 | 75% |
| Bachelor of Business (International Business) | 11.0 | 7.8 | 75% |
| Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) | 12.0 | 8.3 | 80% |
| Bachelor of International Relations | 11.5 | 8 | 78% |
The tables on the degree pages cover a limited list of countries. If your certificate is not listed, ask the admissions team before you apply; this report does not infer a score for it.
Prerequisite subjects and assumed knowledge
Of the five programmes, only Civil Engineering (Honours) lists a prerequisite: SACE Stage 2 Mathematical Methods (or equivalent).
The other four degree pages list no prerequisite and no assumed knowledge. Which IB mathematics course counts as the equivalent of Mathematical Methods is not stated on the degree page, so ask admissions before choosing your IB subjects.
English language requirements for Adelaide University undergraduates
Every programme in this report asks for IELTS Overall 6.5, with 6 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing, while the general minimum for any undergraduate program is IELTS Academic overall 6.0 or equivalent.
English entry requirements are degree specific, and some degrees have higher requirements, so read the line on your degree page.
| Programme | Overall | Each skill |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Computer Science | 6.5 | 6 |
| Bachelor of Science | 6.5 | 6 |
| Bachelor of Business (International Business) | 6.5 | 6 |
| Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) | 6.5 | 6 |
| Bachelor of International Relations | 6.5 | 6 |
Test results are generally valid for two years prior to admission.
Accepted English tests and the IB Diploma
Adelaide University accepts IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency, and the IB Diploma (including specific language subjects undertaken in English) is another accepted way to show English.
The equivalency table on the English proficiency page maps IELTS bands to the other tests: IELTS 6.5 corresponds to TOEFL iBT 79, PTE 64 and Cambridge C1 / C2 176. The table also lists subscores for TOEFL iBT, so check the speaking, reading, listening and writing columns.
If you meet the academic requirements but not the English one, you can receive a conditional offer packaged with an English preparatory program from the English Language Centre.
Official page: English language proficiency.
Adelaide University tuition for international students
Indicative annual tuition for the five programmes runs from $45,100 (International Relations) to $57,100 (Civil Engineering (Honours)).
The fee is based on the units studied in the program on a full-time annual basis. A separate non-tuition fee line exists on each page; it is not quoted here. The application fee is AUD 150.
Student visa basics: Genuine Student and financial capacity
An offer may include a condition requiring satisfaction of the Genuine Student requirement, and the university may ask you to book and complete an interview as part of that process.
The university must also be satisfied that you can financially support yourself and any accompanying family while studying. The pages describe these as general guidance; the exact visa rules are set by the Australian government.
Official page: International entry requirements.
Admission tests, interviews and statistics
None of the five degree pages lists an admission test; the apply-now page only warns that some degrees have additional entry requirements like interviews or auditions.
Medicine and other programmes with their own admission tests are not covered here. Adelaide University does not publish an acceptance rate or cut-off statistics on the pages checked, so this report gives the minimum scores only.
