University of Technology Sydney admission at a glance
International applicants apply directly with UTS through the UTS Application Portal or an application form, and the closing date for the Autumn session (February/March start) for applicants outside Australia is 30 November, according to the UTS page.
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is a public university with its city campus in central Sydney. The application fee is A$100, and the course fee for the four degrees covered here runs from A$25,508 to A$28,620 per session (the course summary table, correct as of June 2026).
Complete applications are normally processed in around one to two weeks. Read the UTS international application page and the academic entry requirements for international students before you start.
Programmes covered in this guide
This guide covers four undergraduate degrees that international applicants often choose: Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Laws.
Each has its own course page: Business, Engineering (Honours), Information Technology and Laws. The international course summary table lists all four with the intakes Feb/Jul.
UTS does not appear to offer a medicine degree in the table pages used here, so none is covered.
How international applicants apply
You apply directly with UTS through the UTS Application Portal or an application form; an official agent can help, and UTS lists the steps as confirm eligibility, provide documents, pay the fee, submit and accept your offer.
UTS says you can seek assistance from an official agent representative near you. You will need to provide verified copies of your academic and English language transcripts and personal statements.
The application fee is A$100, non-refundable. Source: UTS international fees page.
Some courses also carry extra conditions: some courses have special entry requirements that are not listed on the application page.
Application deadlines and intakes
For applicants based outside Australia the closing dates are 30 November (Autumn, February/March start), 30 April (Spring, July start) and 30 August (Summer, November start); the page names no year.
| Session | Applicants outside Australia | Applicants in Australia |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn session (February/March start) | 30 November | 15 January |
| Spring session (July start) | 30 April | 31 May |
| Summer session (November start) | 30 August | 30 September |
The four degrees are listed with February and July intakes in the course summary table. Check UTS international application page for the current dates before you apply.
Academic entry requirements by qualification
UTS says it accepts a wide range of international secondary qualifications, including A-Levels, IB, the French Baccalaureate, the US high school diploma and Singapore A-Levels, and its academic requirements page gives a general guide of competitive results rather than one fixed minimum for every course.
The page describes its entry scores as a general guide of competitive results in a number of international qualifications accepted for entry into undergraduate coursework at UTS. Read the academic entry requirements for international students for the full country list.
IB Diploma and A-levels
The full International Baccalaureate Diploma is accepted where the total aggregate score, including bonus and penalty points, meets the entry standard. For A-levels, an aggregate is calculated from the best three A2 subjects, with A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1.
| Programme | ATAR | IB / predicted IB | SAT 1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Business | 80 | 29/34 | 1160 |
| Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) | 75 | 27/32 | 1120 |
| Bachelor of Information Technology | 75 | 27/32 | 1120 |
| Bachelor of Laws | 93 | 36/41 | 1300 |
The table prints the figures under its own column headings, ATAR first and IB / predicted IB further along the row; confirm the column for your qualification in the international undergraduate course summary table.
Entry by country and certificate
The academic requirements page lists the Abitur examination for Germany and, for several countries, at least one full-time year of bachelor's study at a recognised university instead of a school certificate.
For Brazil, Indonesia, Japan and Saudi Arabia the page gives the same route: Brazil, Indonesia, Japan and Saudi Arabia. The Vietnam entry also accepts the Vietnamese High School Graduation Certificate with the necessary GPA from selected high schools.
For the United States the page says the US High School Diploma plus either the SAT 1 at a competitive standard or an approved associateship at a Community/Junior College.
France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania, Greece, the Netherlands, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey have no entry of their own on the page; the general FAQ statement above (which names the French Baccalaureate) and UTS International are the way to check those certificates.
English language requirements
If your previous education was not in English, UTS says you must show proficiency by completing an English language test such as IELTS or TOEFL, and the Engineering (Honours) and Laws course pages both ask for IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with writing 6.0.
| Test | Engineering (Honours) | Laws |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | overall 6.5, writing 6.0 | overall 6.5, writing 6.0 |
| TOEFL iBT (0-120) | overall 79, writing 21 | overall 79, writing 21 |
| TOEFL iBT (1-6) | overall 4, writing 4.5 | overall 4, writing 4.5 |
| Pearson PTE | overall 58, writing 50 | overall 58, writing 50 |
| Cambridge C1A / C2P | overall 176, writing 169 | overall 176, writing 169 |
| UTS College AE5 | Pass | Pass |
The Business and Information Technology course pages used here do not print a test table, so check their Business page and Information Technology page before choosing a test.
Subject prerequisites by programme
Every course page requires an Australian Year 12 qualification, an Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level, and then lists assumed knowledge written in terms of the New South Wales HSC.
- Business: Mathematics and any two units of English
- Engineering (Honours): HSC Mathematics Extension 1, Physics and English Standard, with English Advanced recommended
- Information Technology: HSC Mathematics Advanced and any two units of English, with Mathematics Extension 1 and English Advanced recommended
- Laws: the same Year 12 or equivalent baseline, with no separate assumed-knowledge line on the course page
Within Engineering, Chemistry is recommended for the Biomedical, Chemical Process, Civil, and Civil and Environmental majors, and sound programming knowledge for Software Engineering.

Tests, interviews and documents
The international application page asks for verified copies of academic and English transcripts and a personal statement; it names no admission test or interview for the four degrees covered here.
Certified copies must be stamped and signed by an authorised person. Special conditions for a specific degree are listed on its course page, not on the general application page.
Tuition fees for international students
The international course summary table lists A$25,508 per session for Business, A$25,840 for Laws and A$28,620 for Engineering (Honours) and Information Technology, correct as of June 2026.
| Programme | Fee per session (A$) | Intakes |

| Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) | $28,620 | Feb / Jul |
| Bachelor of Information Technology | $28,620 | Feb / Jul |
| Bachelor of Laws | $25,840 | Feb / Jul |
Tuition fees vary between courses and from year to year, and all tuition fees must be paid in advance each session. The table is a guide only Source: UTS international fees page.
Other costs: SSAF and health cover
On top of tuition, the student services and amenities fee (SSAF) is payable by international students and a student visa requires Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
The OSHC price is on the OSHC page linked from the UTS international fees page.
Admission statistics: lowest selection ranks
For the Autumn 2026 intake the lowest selection rank with an offer to a recent school leaver was 85 (full-time) for Business, 82.85 for Engineering (Honours), 78.15 for Information Technology and 97.6 (full-time) for Laws; these are domestic ranks.
These are ranks for domestic recent school leavers, listed on the course pages, so treat them as context rather than an international cut-off. The domestic matriculation floor is a full NSW HSC or equivalent with an ATAR of 69, excluding adjustment points.
If you do not meet the entry requirements
UTS College runs pathway programs for applicants who do not meet direct entry, and the application page points to them.
See the UTS international application page for the pathway link, and the course page for the exact conditions.
